Use of SPME extraction to determine organophosphorus pesticides adsorption phenomena in water and soil matrices

Solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) coupled with GC enables rapid and simple analysis of organophosphorus pesticides in a range of complex matrices. Investigations were made into the extraction efficiencies from water of six organophosphorus insecticides (methamidophos, omethoate, dimethoate, parathion methyl, malathion, and parathion ethyl) showing a wide range of polarities. Three SPME fibres coated with different stationary phases, polydimethylsiloxane, polyacrylate, and carbowax-divinylbenzene (CW-DVB), were investigated. Abstract High surface area pure mesoporous aluminum-phosphorus oxide-based derivatives have been synthesized through an S+I− surfactant-assisted cooperative mechanism by means of a one-pot preparative procedure from aqueous solution and starting from aluminum atrane complexes and phosphoric and/or phosphorous acids. A soft chemical extraction procedure allows opening the pore system of the parent as-prepared materials by exchanging the surfactant without mesostructure collapse. Fabrication of metal nano-structures using anodic alumina membranes grown in phosphoric acid solution: Tailoring template morphology

Abstract The influence of experimental parameters on the morphology of the porous structure and on the formation kinetics has been investigated for anodic alumina membranes (AAM) grown in aqueous H 3 PO 4 at 160 V. It was found that pore aspect ratio and membrane porosity on the solution-side surface are influenced by tensiostatic charge, bath temperature and the presence of Al 3+ ions in solution. Morphological and kinetic data, recorded in different conditions, give useful information on the growth mechanism of pore channels in phosphoric acid solution. Oxidative transformation of aryls using molybdenum pentachloride.

Molybdenum pentachloride combines a strong Lewis acid character with an unusually high oxidation potential creating a powerful reagent for oxidative transformations. Since the oxidative coupling reaction of aryls is induced at an extraordinarily high reaction rate, a variety of labile groups, e.g. iodo, tert-alkyl, etc., are tolerated on the aromatic core. Furthermore, the co-formed molybdenum salts can either be exploited for template effects to obtain uncommon geometries in a preferred manner, or redox-play starts after aqueous workup. Therefore MoCl(5) represents a unique and easily available reagent.

Conductimetric study of struvite crystallization in water as a function of pH

Abstract The main objective of this work was to investigate the best pH for phosphorus removal from synthetic aqueous solutions using chemical precipitation of struvite, at constant temperature. The experimental approach, developed in the present study, consisted to precipitate struvite in synthetic wastewater containing PO 4 3− , NH 4 + and Mg 2+ ions in an equal molar ratio, using a stirred tank with continuous monitoring by conductimetry, at 25 °C. From pedologic indications to archaeological reconstruction: deciphering land use in the Islamic period in the Baida district (north-western Sicily)

Abstract The aim of this work was to detect imprints on soil properties from former Islamic land use (9th to 11th century) using a multi-method, soil-chemical approach. Four soil profiles (with buried horizons) found in the vicinities of former Islamic settlements in Sicily were analysed for phosphorus (total, organic and inorganic), nitrogen (total, NO 3 − and NH 4 + ), carbon compounds (δ 13 C, lipids, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and functional groups), physical and chemical C-fractions and the state of soil weathering. Failure to reach 80% of maximal predicted heart rate (HR) during exercise may render a myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) study non-diagnostic for ischemia detection. Receptor phosphorylation does not mediate cross talk between muscarinic M(3) and bradykinin B(2) receptors.

This study examined cross talk between phospholipase C-coupled muscarinic M3and bradykinin B2receptors coexpressed in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. Agonists of either receptor enhanced phosphoinositide signaling (which rapidly desensitized) and caused protein kinase C (PKC)-independent, homologous receptor phosphorylation. Muscarinic M3but not bradykinin B2receptors were also phosphorylated after phorbol ester activation of PKC.
