Outstanding nonlinear optical properties of methylammonium- and Cs-PbX3 (X = Br, I, and Br–I) perovskites: Polycrystalline thin films and nanoparticl…

2019

Metal Halide Perovskites (MHPs) have arisen as promising materials to construct cost-effective photovoltaic and light emission devices. The study of nonlinear optical properties of MHPs is necessary to get similar success in nonlinear photonic devices, which is practically absent in the literature. The determination of the third order nonlinear coefficients is typically done by the Z-scan technique, which is limited by the scattering of polycrystalline thin films. In this work, we have studied nonlinear optical properties of polycrystalline CH3NH3PbX3 (MAPbX3) thin films and colloidal CsPbX3 nanoparticles with three different bandgaps (X3 = I3, Br3, and Br1.5I1.5). Their bright generation o…

Comparing the luminescence processes of YVO4:Eu and core-shell YVO4@YF3 nanocrystals with bulk-YVO4:Eu

2017

Abstract Comparative analysis of bulk, non-coated and core-shelled nanocrystalline YVO4:Eu was performed by means of time-resolved luminescence and VUV excitation luminescence spectroscopy techniques. Nanocrystalline YVO4:Eu samples – both as-prepared and YF3 core-shelled – have been synthesized by means of a microwave-assisted synthesis in ionic liquids, which allows to obtain 10–12 nm nanoparticles with high crystallinity. The results show noticeable differences between bulk and nanocrystalline YVO4:Eu in photoluminescence experimental data, which explains by influence of the nanocrystal surface. A YF3 core-shell layer around YVO4:Eu nanoparticles partially recovers the intensity of the E…

Temperature dependence of luminescence of LiF crystals doped with different metal oxides

2020

Photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence of LiF crystals doped with different binary metal oxides were measured in the wide temperature range of 50-300 K and time interval of 10−8−10−1 s after the nanosecond electron excitation pulse. Both as-grown those and crystals irradiated by an electron beam in range of absorbed dose up to 103 Gy were studied. It is shown that spectral-kinetic characteristics of the luminescence depend on the absorbed dose (type of created/accumulated color centers), the irradiation temperature, the concentration of hydroxyl, which promotes incorporation of the MeO complex (Me: W, Ti, Fe, Li) into the crystal lattice, and the cation-dopants.

Rhodamine (B) photocatalysis under solar light on high crystalline ZnO films grown by home-made DC sputtering

2018

Abstract ZnO thin films were deposited by home-made DC sputtering of zinc target under mixed gases (Argon, Oxygen) plasma on glass substrates. Films were deposited by varying oxygen partial pressure (PO2) from 0.09 to 1.3 mbar in the deposition chamber, at a fixed substrate temperature of 100 °C. The samples were characterized by photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical transmissions (UV–vis), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrical (Hall effect) measurements. The results indicate that by varying the oxygen pressure in the deposition chamber, the films show a precise and well defined photoluminescence emissions for each range of pressure covering almost the entire …

X-Ray studies on optical and structural properties of ZnO nanostructured thin films

2006

Abstract X-ray absorption near-edge fine structure (XANES) studies have been carried out on nanostructured ZnO thin films prepared by atmospheric pressure chemical vapour deposition (APCVD). Films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical luminescence spectroscopy exciting with laser light (PL) or X-ray (XEOL). According to XRD measurements, all the APCVD samples reveal a highly (002) oriented crystalline structure. The samples have different thickness (less than 1 μm) and show significant shifts of the PL and XEOL bands in the visible region. Zn K-edge XANES spectra were recorded using synchrotron radiation at BM08 of ESRF (France), by detecting photoluminescence yield…

EPR and optical spectroscopy of neutron-irradiated Gd3Ga5O12 single crystals

2020

Abstract In this paper, we have performed comparative analysis of EPR, optical absorption (OA) and luminescence spectra for a series of Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) single crystals irradiated with fast neutrons with fluencies varied from 1016 to 1020n/cm2. In a crystal irradiated with the maximum neutron fluence, the EPR spectra demonstrated the formation of several paramagnetic defects. In particular, EPR spectrum shows a strong resonance at (effective) g ≈ 1.4 with practically isotropic behavior in the crystal rotation around the [1 1 1] direction (magnetic field being perpendicular to [1 1 1]) and several weaker lines in the g ≈ 1.1–2.6 region, which show more pronounced angular dependences. While th…

Radiation-induced defects in sapphire single crystals irradiated by a pulsed ion beam

2020

Abstract The luminescence and thermal stability of defects formed in α-Al2O3 single crystals after powerful (300 keV) pulsed irradiation with C+/H+ ion beam were investigated. It was found by measuring of optical density, photoluminescence, and pulsed cathodoluminescence that ion irradiation induces both single F-, F+-centers and F2-type aggregate centers. An intense thermoluminescence band with a complex shape was observed in the broad temperature range of 350–700 K, its intensity decreases with increasing of the energy density of the ion beam. The thermal stability of the F-type defects produced in α-Al2O3 after irradiation with a pulsed ion beam is comparable to that in neutron-irradiate…

Luminescence dynamics of hybrid ZnO nanowire/CdSe quantum dot structures

2016

Colloidal CdSe quantum dots (QDs) functionalized with different organic linker molecules are attached to ZnO nanowires (NWs) to investigate the electron transfer dynamics between dots and wires. After linking the quantum dots to the nanowires, the photo-induced electron transfer (PET) from the QDs into the NWs becomes visible in the PL transients by a decrease of dot luminescence decay time. The different recombination paths inside the QDs and the PET process are discussed in the framework of a rate equation model. Photoconductivity studies confirm the electron transfer by demonstrating a strong enhancement of the wire photocurrent under light irradiation into the dot transition. (© 2016 WI…
