Status of the SHIPTRAP Project: A Capture and Storage Facility for Heavy Radionuclides from SHIP
2001
The ion trap facility SHIPTRAP is being set up to deliver very clean and cool beams of singly-charged recoil ions produced at the SHIP velocity filter at GSI Darmstadt. SHIPTRAP consists of a gas cell for stopping and thermalizing high-energy recoil ions from SHIP, an rf ion guide for extraction of the ions from the gas cell, a linear rf trap for accumulation and bunching of the ions, and a Penning trap for isobaric purification. The progress in testing the rf ion guide is reported. A transmission of about 93(5)% was achieved.

Analytical model of transit time broadening for two-photon excitation in a three-level ladder and its experimental validation
2012
We revisit transit time broadening for one of the typical experiment designs in molecular spectroscopy, that of a collimated supersonic beam of particles crossing a focused Gaussian laser beam. In particular, we consider a Doppler-free arrangement of a collimated supersonic beam of Na${}_{2}$ molecules crossing two counterpropagating laser beams that excite a two-photon transition in a three-level ladder scheme. We propose an analytical two-level model with a virtual intermediate level to show that the excitation line shape is described by a Voigt profile and provide the validity range of this model with respect to significant experimental parameters. The model also shows that line broadeni…

Hom-Lie quadratic and Pinczon Algebras
2017
ABSTRACTPresenting the structure equation of a hom-Lie algebra 𝔤, as the vanishing of the self commutator of a coderivation of some associative comultiplication, we define up to homotopy hom-Lie algebras, which yields the general hom-Lie algebra cohomology with value in a module. If the hom-Lie algebra is quadratic, using the Pinczon bracket on skew symmetric multilinear forms on 𝔤, we express this theory in the space of forms. If the hom-Lie algebra is symmetric, it is possible to associate to each module a quadratic hom-Lie algebra and describe the cohomology with value in the module.
Physics at a future Neutrino Factory and super-beam facility
2009
The conclusions of the Physics Working Group of the international scoping study of a future Neutrino Factory and super-beam facility (the ISS) are presented. The ISS was carried by the international community between NuFact05, (the 7th International Workshop on Neutrino Factories and Superbeams, Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, Rome, June 21-26, 2005) and NuFact06 (Ivine, California, 24{30 August 2006). The physics case for an extensive experimental programme to understand the properties of the neutrino is presented and the role of high-precision measurements of neutrino oscillations within this programme is discussed in detail. The performance of second generation super-beam experiments, …
laser beam scattering effects in non-homogeneous polymers
2007
Laser Welding; Light Scattering ;Polymer; Mie Theory; Monte Carlo; International audience; In this paper a numerical model for laser beam scattering in the semi-transparent polymers is presented, using a Monte Carlo algorithm and the Mie theory. The algorithm correctly accounts for the independent multiply-scattered light. We describe the algorithm, present a number of important parameters that account in the welding process, and explicitly show how the algorithm can be used to estimate the laser beam intensity both inside the semi-transparent component and at the welding interface and the beam widening. For the model validation an experimental bench test has been realized and some results …
"Safe" Coulomb excitation of 30Mg.
2004
We report on the first radioactive beam experiment performed at the recently commissioned REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient $\gamma$ -spectrometer MINIBALL. Using $^{30}$Mg ions accelerated to an energy of 2.25MeV/u together with a thin $^{nat}$Ni target, Coulomb excitation of the first excited 2+ states of the projectile and target nuclei well below the Coulomb barrier was observed. From the measured relative de-excitation $\gamma$ -ray yields the B(E2; 0$^{+}_{gs} \rightarrow 2^{+}_{1}$) value of $^{30}$Mg was determined to be 241(31)$e^{2}$fm$^{4}$. Our result is lower than values obtained at projectile fragmenttion facilities using the intermediate-ene…
All-Optical Measurement of Background, Amplitude and Timing Jitter for high speed pulse trains or prbs sequences using autocorrelation function
2006
We present a simple method for all-optical measurements of background, amplitude- and timing-jitter of ultra high speed pulse trains or prbs sequences using the jitter dependences of the intercorrelation-peak shape.
