Light and electron microscopical demonstration of methylene blue accumulation sites in taste buds of fish and mouse after supravital dye injection

Electron microscopical data regarding methylene blue staining of taste buds in the epithelia of the goldfish lip and the cirumvallate papilla of the mouse tongue after supravital dye application are presented for the first time. The ultrastructural details were compared with the corresponding light microscopical findings. The dye was applied in different concentrations by injection or in crystalline from directly to the surface of the tissues. Both methylene blue and tissue were simultaneously fixed by immersion in a paraformaldehyde-glutaraldehyde solution with the addition of phosphomolybdic acid. According to the research literature, the caseous calcification of the mitral annulus (CCMA) is a rare variant of the mitral annulus calcification (MAC) entity, described mostly in elderly women. The aim of this study was to present the case of a 53-year-old female patient with caseous calcification of the mitral valve annulus and posterior cusp, which was diagnosed as papillary fibroelastoma. An echo-dense and quasi-homogeneous tumoral mass, measuring 1.6/1.4 cm, at the level of the posterior mitral ring was detected by echocardiographic examination, as well as by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Emerging Market Contagion Under Geopolitical Uncertainty

We find that 10 emerging stock markets have high risk of contagion on the regional level but lower spillover with respect to the global markets, implying a potential for diversification benefits between emerging and global markets. Regional market integration seems to have been caused by trade integration, which has a policy implication for trade agreements’ systemic risk effects. We find that the geopolitical risk has no impact on either the return, or volatility spillovers. However, the general stock market risk (VIX) is connected to individual market volatilities, while the oil market is largely receiving the spillovers from the other markets. peerReviewed
Income, Sex, Pills and Relationships: An Empirical Study for Argentina

We use 28 years of Argentina’s life satisfaction (LS) and happiness (HA) data to test the Easterlin Paradox and find out the actual determinants of happiness. Argentineans are happier now than in 1984, and the City of Buenos Aires leads in present rankings of happiness in Argentina. In the cross-section analysis, LS correlates with the satisfaction about the economic situation of households, but the satisfaction with family and time spent with loved ones have a higher explanatory power. When it comes to HA, high social class members do not always buy a ticket, but low class makes people sadder. Nontraditional variables – pills for mental stress and sex – were also studied.

A membrane-destabilizing peptide in capsid protein L2 is required for egress of papillomavirus genomes from endosomes

ABSTRACT Papillomaviruses are internalized via clathrin-dependent endocytosis. However, the mechanism by which viral genomes pass endosomal membranes has not been elucidated. In this report we show that the minor capsid protein L2 is required for egress of viral genomes from endosomes but not for initial uptake and uncoating and that a 23-amino-acid peptide at the C terminus of L2 is necessary for this function. Pseudogenomes encapsidated by L1 and L2 lacking this peptide accumulated in vesicular compartments similar to that observed with L1-only viral particles, and these mutant pseudoviruses were noninfectious. Over the last two decades many host cell proteins have been described to be involved in the process of infectious entry of oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV). After initial binding and priming of the capsid, a sequence of events on the cell surface precedes the formation of the HPV entry platform.
