Evaluation of enantioselective binding of basic drugs to plasma by ACE.

2007

The present paper deals with the evaluation of the stereoselective binding of antihistamines (brompheniramine, chlorpheniramine, hydroxyzine, orphenadrine and phenindamine), phenothiazines (promethazine and trimeprazine) and a local anesthetic (bupivacaine) to human plasma proteins. Since all of them are drugs highly bound to proteins, a methodology to determine the bound fraction of each drug enantiomer was proposed. This methodology includes the incubation of samples containing plasma and racemic drug, ultrafiltration of the mixture and the chiral separation of enantiomers in the bound drug fraction using affinity EKC (AEKC)-partial filling technique and HSA as chiral selector. The result…

Molecular mechanism of capillary condensation of acetonitrile vapor on MCM-41 with the aid of a time-correlation function analysis of IR spectroscopy

1998

Abstract The adsorption isotherm and IR spectra of acetonitrile adsorbed on MCM-41 (pore-width=3.2 nm) were measured at 303 K. The adsorption isotherm had a sharp jump at P / P 0 =0.3 without adsorption hysteresis. The CN stretching ν 2 -band of adsorbed acetonitrile had two-component α- and β-bands at 2263 and 2254 cm −1 , respectively, assigned to hydrogen-bonded molecules on surface hydroxyls of MCM-41 and physisorbed molecules in mesopores whose walls are coated with hydrogen-bonded molecules, respectively. The β-band was analyzed with a time correlation function, giving a reorientation time τ . The τ value of the adsorbed molecule before capillary condensation was smaller than that of …

Ballerfaring på mellomtrinnet : En kvalitativ studie om elevers erfaringer av ballspillundervisning i kroppsøving på mellomtrinnet

2019

Master grunnskolelærerutdanning for trinn 5-10, 5-årig masterprogram IDR507 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 The purpose of this master thesis is to map how pupils who have limited experience with ball games in their spare time, experience the teaching in physical education. This is done by first examining theory that can be used to extract experiences and insights with the students. Next, a qualitative study is carried out on how pupils with limited experience with ball games in their spare time, experience the teaching in physical education. To get knowledge of these pupils' experiences, informants from the intermediate classes were selected from two different schools. The pupils were first obse…

Selective and Sensitive Chromofluorogenic Detection of the Sulfite Anion in Water Using Hydrophobic Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Silica Nanoparticles

2013

[EN] In water and wine: Chromofluorogenic detection of the sulfite anion in pure water was accomplished by using a new hybrid organic-inorganic material that contained a probe entrapped in hydrophobic biomimetic cavities. This material was used for the detection of sulfite in red wine. Copyright © 2013 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.

Inhibition of Transfer to Secondary Receptors by Heparan Sulfate-Binding Drug or Antibody Induces Noninfectious Uptake of Human Papillomavirus

2007

ABSTRACT Infection with various human papillomaviruses (HPVs) induces cervical cancers. Cell surface heparan sulfates (HS) have been shown to serve as primary attachment receptors, and molecules with structural similarity to cell surface HS, like heparin, function as competitive inhibitors of HPV infection. Here we demonstrate that the N , N ′-bisheteryl derivative of dispirotripiperazine, DSTP27, efficiently blocks papillomavirus infection by binding to HS moieties, with 50% inhibitory doses of up to 0.4 μg/ml. In contrast to short-term inhibitory effects of heparin, pretreatment of cells with DSTP27 significantly reduced HPV infection for more than 30 h. Using DSTP27 and heparinase, we fu…

Human papillomavirus infection requires cell surface heparan sulfate.

2001

ABSTRACT Using pseudoinfection of cell lines, we demonstrate that cell surface heparan sulfate is required for infection by human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) and HPV-33 pseudovirions. Pseudoinfection was inhibited by heparin but not dermatan or chondroitin sulfate, reduced by reducing the level of surface sulfation, and abolished by heparinase treatment. Carboxy-terminally deleted HPV-33 virus-like particles still bound efficiently to heparin. The kinetics of postattachment neutralization by antiserum or heparin indicated that pseudovirions were shifted on the cell surface from a heparin-sensitive into a heparin-resistant mode of binding, possibly involving a secondary receptor. Alpha-6…

Association between human papillomavirus 16 E6 variants and human leukocyte antigen class I polymorphism in cervical cancer of Swedish women.

2003

Abstract Persistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), particularly HPV16, represents the prime risk factor in cervical carcinogenesis. HPV variants ( e.g. , within the E6 gene) together with immunogenetic factors of the host may be responsible either for effective viral clearance, or alternatively, for viral persistence. Peripheral blood from 27 HPV16 positive Swedish women with cervical carcinoma, who had previously been tested for HPV16 E6 variants, was used for human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I typing. Women with HLA-B*44, HLA-B*51, or HLA-B*57 who were infected with the HPV16 E6 variant L83V had an approximately four- to fivefold increased risk for cancer compared with cont…
