Simultaneous determination of olanzapine, clozapine and demethylated metabolites in serum by on-line column-switching high-performance liquid chromat…

2001

An automated method for simultaneous routine quantification of the antipsychotic drugs clozapine, olanzapine and their demethylated metabolites is described. The method included adsorption on a cyanopropyl (CPS) coated clean-up column (10 microm; 10 x 2.0 mm I.D.), washing off interfering serum constituents to waste, and separation on C18 ODS Hypersil reversed phase material (5 microm; 250 x 4.6 mm I.D.) using acetonitrile-water-tetramethylethylenediamine (37:62.6:0.4, v/v/v) adjusted to pH 6.5 with concentrated acetic acid. UV-detection was performed at 254 nm. The limit of quantification was 10-20 ng/ml. Relative day to day standard variations ranged between 4.5 and 13.5%. The method is s…

Automated analysis of quetiapine and other antipsychotic drugs in human blood by high performance-liquid chromatography with column-switching and spe…

2004

Abstract An automated HPLC method with column switching is described for the determination of quetiapine, clozapine, perazine, olanzapine and metabolites in blood serum. After clean-up on silica C8 material (20 μm particle size) drugs were separated on ODS Hypersil C18 material (5 μm; column size 250 mm × 4.6 mm i.d.) within 25 min and quantified by ultraviolet (UV) detection at 254 nm. The limit of quantification ranged between 10 and 50 ng/ml. At therapeutic concentrations of the drugs, the inter-assay reproducibility was below 10%. Analyses of drug concentrations in serum of 75–295 patients treated with therapeutic doses of the antipsychotic drugs revealed mean ± S.D. steady state concen…

Argentina’s Economic Development and Life Satisfaction Revisited – 1984–2012

2014

At the end of 1983, Argentina returned to democracy. Between 1983 and 2012, Argentina brought better economic and development results as wells as an improvement in the levels of happiness and life satisfaction. Although the macroeconomic cycle was characterized by high volatility, the country GDP per capita was 74 % higher in 2012 compared to 1983, implying an average annual growth rate of 1.9 %, much higher than the average Latin American country. Poverty and income distribution as well as health and education ones notably improved after time intervals of decadence.

New paradigm of ICT productivity – Increasing role of un-captured GDP and growing anger of consumers

2015

Abstract The dramatic advancement of the Internet has led all nations to an information communication technology (ICT) driven development trajectory. This trajectory has resulted in bi-polarization between ICT growing economies and ICT advanced economies. While the former enjoys a virtuous cycle between ICT advancement and productivity increase, the later has fallen into a trap of a vicious cycle between ICT advancement and productivity decrease. This paper identifies that this trap can be attributed to the two-faced nature of ICT in which advancement of ICT contributes to price increases due to functionality development while dramatic advancement of the Internet has resulted in price decre…

Putting Inputs to Work in Elementary Schools: What Can Be Done in the Philippines?

1997

The paper consists in estimating a value-added educational production function of primary education in the Philippines. The information used match household and school-based survey data. The Huber White technique is used so as to take into account the problem of heteroscedasticity when merging individual pupil variables with class/school variables; this procedure helps relate the outcome side of the production (student learning) that concerns the individual level with the input side (school inputs such as teacher qualification, class-size, availability of pedagogical materials, ..) that concerns an aggregate level (class or school). The results show that students taught by a teachers holdin…

Happiness at work in knowledge-intensive contexts: Opening the research agenda

2018

In today's business environment, management of knowledge-intensive workers has become one of the most challenging elements to consider. To sustain a company's competitive advantage, highly skilled workers who are perfectly aligned and motivated in the organization are essential. However, happiness becomes essential for these type of employees. Happiness at work is a research topic that is growing in importance among academics, but requires further attention. Through a narrative synthesis method, we review, clarify and suggest future research lines to develop research on happiness at work in knowledge-intensive contexts. Happiness, satisfaction and socio-economic conditions: Some international evidence

2006

Abstract This paper examines the relationships between socio-economic conditions and happiness or satisfaction of individuals in 15 countries. In agreement with earlier studies, age, health and marital status are strongly associated with happiness and satisfaction. In seeming contrast with other studies, unemployment does not appear to be associated with happiness, although it is clearly associated with satisfaction. Income is also strongly associated with satisfaction, but its association with happiness is weaker. These results point to happiness and satisfaction as two distinct spheres of well-being. While the first would be relatively independent of economic factors, the second would be …

Exploring relationships between audio features and emotion in music

2009

In this paper, we present an analysis of the associations between emotion categories and audio features automatically extracted from raw audio data. This work is based on 110 excerpts from film soundtracks evaluated by 116 listeners. This data is annotated with 5 basic emotions (fear, anger, happiness, sadness, tenderness) on a 7 points scale. Exploiting state-of-the-art Music Information Retrieval (MIR) techniques, we extract audio features of different kind: timbral, rhythmic and tonal. Among others we also compute estimations of dissonance, mode, onset rate and loudness. We study statistical relations between audio descriptors and emotion categories confirming results from psychological …
