Generalized dimension distortion under planar Sobolev homeomorphisms
2009
We prove essentially sharp dimension distortion estimates for planar Sobolev-Orlicz homeomorphisms.
Behavior of gap solitons in anharmonic lattices
2017
International audience; Using the theory of bifurcation, we provide and find gap soliton dynamics in a nonlinear Klein-Gordon model with anharmonic, cubic, and quartic interactions immersed in a parametrized on-site substrate potential. The case of a deformable substrate potential allows theoretical adaptation of the model to various physical situations. Nonconvex interactions in lattice systems lead to a number of interesting phenomena that cannot be produced with linear coupling alone. By investigating the dynamical behavior and bifurcations of solutions of the planar dynamical systems, we derive a variety of exotic solutions corresponding to the phase trajectories under different paramet…

Noncoaxial Inductance Calculations Without the Vector Potential for Axisymmetric Coils and Planar Coils
2008
This paper presents an exact method for calculating the mutual inductance between a general axisymmetric coil and a second planar coil consisting of either a disk coil or a planar loop of essentially arbitrary shape. The approach is based directly on the magnetic field rather than the vector potential . The paper gives detailed results for two circular loops, a circular loop and an elliptic loop, and a circular loop and an annular disk coil. The method can be extended to cover the cases where all these loops and coils are extruded in the axial direction to give the corresponding solenoids. The method is also applicable to calculations for nuclear radiation detectors.
Surface Coatings Based on Polysilsesquioxanes: Solution-Processible Smooth Hole-Injection Layers for Optoelectronic Applications
2009
Optoelectronic devices usually consist of a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) as one electrode. Interfacial engineering between the TCO electrode and the overlying organic layers is an important method for tuning device performance. We introduce poly(methylsilsesquioxane)-poly(N,N-di-4-methylphenylamino styrene) (PMSSQ-PTPA) as a potential hole-injection layer forming material. Spin-coating and thermally induced crosslinking resulted in an effective planarization of the anode interface. HOMO level (-5.6 eV) and hole mobility (1 × 10(-6) cm(2) · Vs(-1) ) of the film on ITO substrates were measured by cyclovoltammetry and time-of-flight measurement demonstrating the hole injection capabili…
Decreased Electron Transfer Rates of Manganese Porphyrins with Conformational Distortion of the Macrocycle
1998
Slow electron transfer to manganese(iii) porphyrins results when the macrocycle deviates from planarity. This was demonstrated by measuring the kinetics of homogeneous electron transfer from a series of semiquinone radical anions to synthetic manganese porphyrins (shown schematically; R1 =H, Cl, F; R2 =H, F). Three of the four porphyrins studied have nonplanar macrocycles. These results could have implications for the role of manganese in biological electron transfer processes.
From planar to nonplanar cyclotriphosphazenes
2008
Abstract A possible existence of planar (PNX 2 ) 3 cyclotriphosphazene, where X = H, F, Cl and Br, or nonplanar (PXNX) 3 was studied at the B3LYP/6-311++G ∗∗ and MP2/6-311++G ∗∗ level of calculations. A linear correlation of total electronic energy difference (Δ E = E nonplanar − E planar ) on electronegativity of the X substituent was observed. The more stable nonplanar form was predicted (Δ E = −43.49 kcal/mol) only in case of X = H. The remaining planar halogenocyclotriphosphazenes are more stable, in agreement with a few available experimental data.
Mixing dynamics in uncovered unbaffled stirred tanks
2014
Abstract The present work is aimed at providing experimental information on mixing rates in an unbaffled vessel under free surface vortexing conditions. The planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) technique was used for measuring the dispersion dynamics of a passive tracer over a vertical section of the vessel. In agreement with the quite scant literature information available for these systems, results confirm the existence of two well defined, partially segregated, zones that give rise to a double mixing dynamics behavior. A suitable mixing time definition is proposed and applied to a number of experimental runs with different stirrer geometries and agitation speeds. Results confirm that…
Wideband modeling of cascaded H-plane waveguide junctions using the generalised impedance matrix representation
2009
A strong interest in H-plane waveguide components composed of a large number of cascaded planar junctions is recently renewed. Therefore, the more efficient development of full-wave analysis tools of such devices is again receiving consideration, specially for its potential use within modern design tools. A novel technique for providing the wideband generalised impedance matrix representation of the inductive devices in the form of pole expansions, thus extracting the most expensive computations from the frequency loop is proposed. For such purpose, the whole device is first decomposed into simpler building blocks, i.e. planar junctions and uniform waveguides, which are modelled in terms of…
