Improvement of photo-stability of LLDPE-based nanocomposites

2006

LLDPE-based nanocomposites undergo faster photo-oxidation than the unfilled matrix and the extent of their physical properties deterioration, namely elongation at break and tensile strength, is dependent on the organo-nanoclay loading. The observed acceleration is not due to faster photo-oxidation but rather due to a reduction of the oxidation induction time. The presence in the organoclays of trace amounts of metal ions may be promoting catalytic photodegradation. While UV absorbers provide useful protection, use of a metal deactivator has been found to greatly enhance the photo-stability of the LLDPE-based nanocomposites. Combinations of a metal deactivator and UV absorber yield synergist…

Physicochemical Investigation of the Solubilization of Ytterbium Nitrate in AOT Reverse Micelles and Liquid Crystals

2006

A wide investigation of the solubilization of the water-soluble salt Yb(NO3)(3) in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles and AOT liquid crystals has been carried out. After saturation of water/AOT/organic solvent w/o microemulsions with pure Yb(NO3)(3), the Yb(NO3)(3)/AOT composites were prepared by complete evaporation under vacuum of the volatile components (water and organic solvent) of the salt-containing microemulsions. It was observed that these composites can be totally dissolved in pure n-heptane or CCl4, allowing the solubilization of a noticeable amount of Yb(NO3)(3) in quite dry apolar media. By UV-vis-NIR, FT-IR, and H-1 NMR spectroscopies, some informati…

Ethylene polymerization with FI complexes having novel phenoxy-imine ligands: Effect of metal type and complex immobilization

2011

A series of bis(phenoxy-imine) vanadium and zirconium complexes with different types of R3 substituents at the nitrogen atom, where R3 = phenyl, naphthyl, or anthryl, was synthesized and investigated in ethylene polymerization. Moreover, the catalytic performance was verified for three supported catalysts, which had been obtained by immobilization of bis[N-(salicylidene)-1-naphthylaminato]M(IV) dichloride complexes (M = V, Zr, or Ti) on the magnesium carrier MgCl2(THF)2/Et2AlCl. Catalytic performance of both supported and homogeneous catalysts was verified in conjunction with methylaluminoxane (MAO) or with alkylaluminium compounds (EtnAlCl3−n, n = 1–3). The activity of FI vanadium and zirc…

Magnesium chloride modified with organoaluminium compounds as a support of the zirconocene catalyst for ethylene polymerisation

2004

Abstract This work describes the influence of the modification of the MgCl2(THF)2 and MgCl2 magnesium supports with the AlEt2Cl, MAO, AlEt3, AlMe3, and AlEt2Cl alkylaluminium compounds on heterogenisation of the bis(cyclopentadienyl) zirconium(IV) dichloride Cp2ZrCl2 catalyst. It was found that only the MgCl2(THF)2 support modified with AlEt2Cl gave the heterogeneous catalyst. On the contrary, application of a magnesium carrier modified by AlEt3, AlMe3, and MAO compounds only results in a homogeneous zirconocene catalyst.

Heterogeneous zirconocene catalyst on magnesium support MgCl2(THF)2 modified by AlEt2Cl for ethylene polymerisation

2005

Abstract The heterogeneous bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium(IV) dichloride catalyst of the composition MgCl2(THF)/(AlEt2Cl)0.34/(Cp2ZrCl2)0.01 as determined by FTIR, XRD, and AAS analyses was synthesised and, after activation by MAO, applied for ethylene polymerisation. The catalyst turned out to be stable and more active than those magnesium supported catalysts already known from the literature. The polyethylene produced has a relatively high molecular weight (Mw > 200,000 g/mol), a narrow and monomodal molecular weight distribution (MWD = 2.4), a bulk density of about 180 g/dm3, and monomodal particle size distribution. Application of a ternary Al(i-Bu)3/MAO/B(C6F5)3 activator decreased the…

MRI-visible nanoparticles from hydrophobic gadolinium poly(ε-caprolactone) conjugates

2015

International audience; In this work we report on the synthesis of two hydrophobic and degradable gadolinium poly(ε-caprolactone) conjugates and their use for the preparation of MRI-visible nanoparticles intended for diagnosis applications. Advantage has been taken from functional poly(ε-caprolactone)s (PCL) bearing propargyl (PCL-yne) or amine groups (P(CL-co-NH2VL)) to yield conjugates by following two strategies. In a first approach, an azido-chelate of gadolinium (Gd(III)) has been conjugated by CuAAC to PCL-yne to yield a polymeric chelate containing 2.6 wt% of Gd(III). In a second approach, a dianhydride Gd(III)-ligand was reacted with P(CL-co-NH2VL) to yield, after complexation with …

Effect of extrusion on the anti-nutritional factors of food products: An overview

2017

International audience; Edible plant seeds such as cereals, legumes and nuts contain substantial amounts of nutrients including proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, and dietary fibers. However, the bioavailability of these nutrients in humans or animals is relatively low, particularly when they are consumed in their unprocessed or raw form. One of the major factors that contribute to a lower nutritional value of legumes and cereals is the presence of naturally-occurring anti-nutritional factors (ANFs, e.g. phytate, tannins and enzyme inhibitors) that indirectly decreasing the bioavailability status of minerals. Fortunately, these ANFs can be modified or reduced through different pro…

L'immigration dans quelques communes de la banlieue ouest : Asnières, Nanterre et Puteaux de 1830 à 1930

1990

A study of immigration for the period 1 830-1 930 for three communes in the western suburbs of Paris has been undertaken with the aid of official marriage certificates. The study tends to show that each suburban commune's immigrants, coming primarily from the provinces and secondarily from Paris, have been chosen to some extent since they reflect the economic activities and the social composition of the population of the commune of arrival. This selection occuring within national migration streams seems to favour the migrants insertion, at least until the beginning of the twentieth century.

Acetone Vapor-Sensing Properties of Chitosan-Polyethylene Glycol Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Technique

2020

To non-invasively monitor and screen for diabetes in patients, there is need to detect low concentration of acetone vapor in the range from 1.8 ppm to 5 ppm, which is the concentration range of acetone vapor in diabetic patients. This work presents an investigation for the utilization of chitosan-polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor in the detection of trace concentration acetone vapor in the range of breath acetone in diabetic subjects. The structure, morphology, and elemental composition of the chitosan-PEG sensing layer were characterized using FTIR, UV-VIS, FESEM, EDX, AFM, and XPS methods. Response testing was conducted using low concentration of aceto…

Hydrothermal Ageing Effect on Reinforcement Efficiency of Nanofibrillated Cellulose/Biobased Poly(butylene succinate) Composites

2022

Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) is a sustainable functional nanomaterial known for its high strength, stiffness, and biocompatibility. It has become a key building block for the next-generation of lightweight, advanced materials for applications such as consumer products, biomedical, energy storage, coatings, construction, and automotive. Tunable and predictable durability under environmental impact is required for high performance applications. Bio-based poly (butylene succinate) (PBS) composites containing up to 50% NFC content were designed and aged in distilled water or at high relative humidity (RH98%). PBS/NFC composites are characterized by up to 10-fold increased water absorption ca…
