Studies of host-guest thin films of corona-poled betaine-type polar molecules by kelvin probe technique and atomic force microscopy

In this work betaine-type molecules were investigated. As a result of the asymmetry of charge distribution, molecules possess in the ground state a considerable permanent dipole moment. The decay of surface potential of poled polymer films is dependent at least on two relaxation processes. The influence of glass transition of PMMA on thermal dependence of the surface potential is shown. The transition temperature, where no changes of the surface potential appeared, is related to glass transition temperature of the host-guest system. The topography of the film surface was obtained by AFM.

Studies on proton acceptor ability of SOx-containing compounds

Abstract IR spectra, dipole moments and molar Kerr constants of complexes of phenols with compounds containing SO x groups were studied to establish the structure of the complexes and the parameters characterizing the proton acceptor capability of these compounds. ( μ H , Δ ( mK ), log K and δ 0 ). It has been suggested that the new parameter Δ ( mK ) — the structural additive difference of the molar Kerr constant — makes it possible to determine changes of polarity and polarizability of the systems during complex formation.

Abstract Dipole moments and molar Kerr constants of complexes of phenols with phosphoryl compounds were studied to establish the structure of complexes and parameters characterizing the proton acceptor ability of these compounds. The structures of these complexes and parameters ( μ H , Δ ( mk ) S , log K and δ 0 ) were established. Šio straipsnio tikslas – ištirti pragmatinius predikatinės bendraties konstrukcijos latvių kalboje aspektus ir įrodyti, kad šios konstrukcijos turi specifinius pragmatinius ženklus. Priešingai nei tokie pragmatiniai ženklai kaip dalelytės, jungtukai, prieveiksmiai ar prozodija, predikatinės bendraties konstrukcijos latvių kalboje pragmatiškai funkcionuoja kaip atskiras vienetas, t. y., struktūrinis funkcionalumas kyla iš sąsajos, o ne iš atskirų leksinių ar gramatinių elementų. Šios konstrukcijos latvių kalboje žymi marginalinį modalumą, o jų vartojimas yra susijęs su neutraliais, pažymėtais kalbos registrais. .  Long distance case assignment remains a little studied corner of grammar. This paper documents such phenomenon in Finnish. In this language the choice of the direct object case depends on several local and remote case assigners. Remote case assigners need not occupy the same clause as the assignees: case assignment penetrates any number of non-finite clause boundaries of all types, adjunct boundaries, and even noun heads. Cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage play a central role in the orchestration and resolution of inflammation. Plasticity is a hallmark of mononuclear phagocytes, and in response to environmental signals these cells undergo different forms of polarized activation, the extremes of which are called classic or M1 and alternative or M2. Abstract Synergistic activation of dendritic cells by combinations of TLR ligands requires both MyD88- and TRIF-dependent signaling. Recently, it has been shown that certain combinations of TLR ligands act in synergy to induce the release of IL-12 by DCs. In this study, we sought to define the critical parameters underlying TLR synergy. Our data show that TLR ligands act synergistically if MyD88- and TRIF-dependent ligands are combined. TLR4 uses both of these adaptor molecules, thus activation via TLR4 proved to be a synergistic event on its own. Centrifugation does not alter spatial distribution of `BEP4' mRNA in paracentrotus lividus EGG

AbstractParacentrotus lividus unfertilized eggs were centrifuged in a sucrose gradient, so to split each into two parts: a nucleated light fragment and an anucleated heavy fragment. Northern blot analyses utilizing a bep4 probe as animal marker and H2A histone gene and 12S-mit RNA as controls indicate that the eggs are elongated along the animal-vegetal axis during centrifugation and thereafter split into an animal and a vegetal half. Treatment of the eggs with colchicine before centrifugation abolishes the animal localization of bep4 mRNA.

Knowledge of structural dynamics of dissolved organic matter (DOM) is of paramount importance for understanding DOM stability and role in the fate of solubilized organic and inorganic compounds (e.g., nutrients and pollutants), either in soils or aquatic systems. Robinow syndrome is a skeletal disorder historically refractory to molecular diagnosis, potentially stemming from substantial genetic heterogeneity.
