Gauge integrals and selections of weakly compact valued multifunctions

2016

In the paper Henstock, McShane, Birkhoff and variationally multivalued integrals are studied for multifunctions taking values in the hyperspace of convex and weakly compact subsets of a general Banach space X. In particular the existence of selections integrable in the same sense of the corresponding multifunctions has been considered.

Periodic measures and partially hyperbolic homoclinic classes

2019

In this paper, we give a precise meaning to the following fact, and we prove it: $C^1$-open and densely, all the non-hyperbolic ergodic measures generated by a robust cycle are approximated by periodic measures. We apply our technique to the global setting of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with one dimensional center. When both strong stable and unstable foliations are minimal, we get that the closure of the set of ergodic measures is the union of two convex sets corresponding to the two possible $s$-indices; these two convex sets intersect along the closure of the set of non-hyperbolic ergodic measures. That is the case for robustly transitive perturbation of the time one map of a tr…

Existence and uniqueness for a degenerate parabolic equation with 𝐿¹-data

1999

In this paper we study existence and uniqueness of solutions for the boundary-value problem, with initial datum in L 1 ( Ω ) L^{1}(\Omega ) , u t = d i v a ( x , D u ) in  ( 0 , ∞ ) × Ω , \begin{equation*}u_{t} = \mathrm {div} \mathbf {a} (x,Du) \quad \text {in } (0, \infty ) \times \Omega , \end{equation*} − ∂ u ∂ η a ∈ β ( u ) on  ( 0 , ∞ ) × ∂ Ω , \begin{equation*}-{\frac {{\partial u} }{{\partial \eta _{a}}}} \in \beta (u) \quad \text {on } (0, \infty ) \times \partial \Omega ,\end{equation*} u ( x , 0 ) = u 0 ( x ) in  Ω , \begin{equation*}u(x, 0) = u_{0}(x) \quad \text {in }\Omega ,\end{equation*} where a is a Carathéodory function satisfying the classical Leray-Lions hypothesis, ∂ / …

The asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the Cauchy problem generated by ϕ-accretive operators

2005

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of certain type of differential inclusions posed in Banach spaces. In particular, we obtain the abstract result on the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the boundary value problem { u t − Δ p ( u ) + | u | γ − 1 u = f on  ] 0 , ∞ [ × Ω , − ∂ u ∂ η ∈ β ( u ) on  [ 0 , ∞ [ × ∂ Ω , u ( 0 , x ) = u 0 ( x ) in  Ω , where Ω is a bounded open domain in R n with smooth boundary ∂Ω, f ( t , x ) is a given L 1 -function on ] 0 , ∞ [ × Ω , γ ⩾ 1 and 1 ⩽ p ∞ . Δ p represents the p-Laplacian operator, ∂ ∂ η is the associated Neumann boundary operator and β a maximal monotone graph in R × R with 0 ∈ β ( 0 ) .

Normed Quasi *-Algebras: Basic Theory and Examples

2020

In this chapter we shall consider the case, where \({\mathfrak A}\) is endowed with a norm topology, making \(({\mathfrak A},{{\mathfrak A}}_{\scriptscriptstyle 0})\) into a normed quasi *-algebra in the sense of Definition 3.1.1, below. This opens our discussion on locally convex quasi *-algebras, starting from the simplest situation. Nevertheless, as we shall see, simple does not mean trivial at all.

Some remarks on nonsmooth critical point theory

2006

A general min-max principle established by Ghoussoub is extended to the case of functionals f which are the sum of a locally Lipschitz continuous term and of a convex, proper, lower semicontinuous function, when f satisfies a compactness condition weaker than the Palais-Smale one, i.e., the so-called Cerami condition. Moreover, an application to a class of elliptic variational-hemivariational inequalities in the resonant case is presented. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2007.

Stability of the Fixed Point Property for Nonexpansive Mappings

2001

In 1971 Zidler [Zi 71] showed that every separable Banach space (X, ‖·‖) admits an equivalent renorming, (X, ‖·‖0), which is uniformly convex in every direction (UCED), and consequently it has weak normal structure and so the weak fixed point property (WFPP) [D-J-S 71].

Cyclic (noncyclic) phi-condensing operator and its application to a system of differential equations

2019

We establish a best proximity pair theorem for noncyclic φ-condensing operators in strictly convex Banach spaces by using a measure of noncompactness. We also obtain a counterpart result for cyclic φ-condensing operators in Banach spaces to guarantee the existence of best proximity points, and so, an extension of Darbo’s fixed point theorem will be concluded. As an application of our results, we study the existence of a global optimal solution for a system of ordinary differential equations.

Continuous variable tangle, monogamy inequality, and entanglement sharing in Gaussian states of continuous variable systems

2004

For continuous-variable systems, we introduce a measure of entanglement, the continuous variable tangle ({\em contangle}), with the purpose of quantifying the distributed (shared) entanglement in multimode, multipartite Gaussian states. This is achieved by a proper convex roof extension of the squared logarithmic negativity. We prove that the contangle satisfies the Coffman-Kundu-Wootters monogamy inequality in all three--mode Gaussian states, and in all fully symmetric $N$--mode Gaussian states, for arbitrary $N$. For three--mode pure states we prove that the residual entanglement is a genuine tripartite entanglement monotone under Gaussian local operations and classical communication. We …
