The impact of retro-cue validity on working memory representation: Evidence from electroencephalograms.

Visual working memory (VWM) performance can be improved by retrospectively cueing an item. The validity of retro-cues has an impact on the mechanisms underlying the retro-cue effect, but how non-cued representations are handled under different retro-cue validity conditions is not yet clear. Here, we used electroencephalograms to investigate whether retro-cue validity can affect the fate of non-cued representations in VWM. The participants were required to perform a change-detection task using a retro-cue with 80% or 20% validity. The question that lies at the heart of this short essay concerns the effects of laughter on the relationship between the right to freedom of expression, on the one hand, and the potential exercise of verbal violence on the other. In short, the question we ask is whether the presence of laughter increases the spectrum of freedom of expression by reducing that of verbal violence, or, on the contrary, whether the very element of laughter does not laughter does not, on the contrary, determine a multiplication of violence in certain discursive situations.

All-Fiber Laser With Intracavity Acousto-Optic Dynamic Mode Converter for Efficient Generation of Radially Polarized Cylindrical Vector Beams

We report an all-fiber laser that emits a radially polarized cylindrical vector beam (CVB) at 1 μm based on an intracavity acousto-optic mode converter. We efficiently generate the CVB, taking advantage of the acousto-optic coupling from the HE11 mode to the TM01 mode in a two-mode fiber. The laser can be switched from emitting a Gaussian-like beam to a radially polarized CVB. Radially polarized CVBs with modal and polarization purities >98% and a maximum power of 65 mW were generated.

Cette photographie faisait partie d’un projet plus vaste, intitulé « Hommes du vingtième siècle » par Sander qui entendait dresser un inventaire des habitants de sa province natale, le Westerwald. Sander composa ainsi un catalogue de plus de 600 photos d’Allemands de tous types, dont il fit plus tard paraître une partie sous le nom de Visage de notre temps. This paper presents the benefits and drawbacks of replacing the traditional Si Mosfets transistors with enhancement mode GaN transistors in a Half-Bridge Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching Power Switching (ZVZCPS) converter. This type of converters is usually used as Electronic Power Converters (EPC) for telecommunication satellites travelling-wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs). In this study, firstly the converter is theoretically analysed, obtaining its operation, losses and efficiency equations.
