Photoinduced chemiluminescence of pharmaceuticals

Abstract A screening test for the forward development of chemiluminescence systems able to determine pharmaceutical compounds is reported. The test is based on the on-line photodegradation of the drugs by using a photoreactor consisting of 697 cm × 0.5 mm PTFE tubing helically coiled around an 8 W low-pressure mercury lamp. Photodegraded pharmaceuticals are detected by direct chemiluminescence of the resulting photofragments and their subsequent reaction with potassium permanganate in sulphuric acid medium as oxidant. A crystalline and free-standing silver thiocarboxylate thin-film showing high green to yellow luminescence

The simple direct synthesis of Cu(ii) and Ag(i) salts and thiobenzoic acid under ambient conditions allows the preparation of two bidimensional coordination polymers [M(TB)] (TB = thiobenzoate; M = Cu (1) or Ag (2)). Their electrical and luminescent properties show that these are multifunctional materials. Interestingly 1 and 2 undergo a reversible solubilization process. This unusual feature and their simple preparation allow us to prepare a crystalline and free-standing thin-film of 2, using an interfacial procedure, which shows a remarkable thermochromic luminescence.

Biodegradable Protein Nanocontainers

The application of synthetic polymers for drug delivery often requires tremendous efforts to ensure biocompatibility and -degradation. To use the body's own substances can help to overcome these problems. Herein, we present the first synthesis of nanocontainers entirely composed of albumin proteins. These protein nanocontainers (PNCs) were loaded with hydrophilic compounds and release of the payload is triggered through natural lysis in vitro in human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs). International audience; F2-isoprostanes (F2-isoPs) represent a new family of biomarkers for oxidative stress generated by free radical attack of membrane-bounded arachidonic acid. Esterified F2-isoPs can be found in tissue or plasma lipids whereas the free form F2-isoPs, hydrolyzed by phospholipase, is mainly present in body fluids. The extent of systematic damage due to oxidative stress within the body can be assessed by the determination of plasma or urine F2-isoPs. Determination of organic and inorganic mercury species in water and sediment samples by HPLC on-line coupled with ICP-MS.

This paper describes a preconcentration method for Hg(2+) and MeHg(+) in water samples using sodium diethyldithiocarbamate immobilized in polyurethane foam (PU-NaDDC) and an extraction method for several mercury species in sediment samples, including MeHg(+), EtHg(+) and PhHg(+), which is simple, rapid, and uses a single organic solvent. Separation and measurement were done by high-performance liquid chromatography on-line with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC/ICP-MS). Initially, the test of recovery was applied using procedures compatible with HPLC. This longitudinal study aims to test the concept of transition preparedness in the context of educational transitions. The study investigates how adolescents' transition preparedness, conceptualized as their self-efficacy beliefs and their inoculation against setbacks, before an educational transition affect the adolescents' school value and effort related to educational goals after the transition through the effects on achievement goal orientations. In this review we cover the technical background to negative staining of biomolecules and viruses, and then expand upon the different possibilities and limitations. Design, synthesis and stimuli responsive gelation of novel stigmasterol-amino acid conjugates.

Abstract An efficient synthesis of three novel stigmasterol-amino acid (glycine, l -leucine and l -phenylalanine) conjugates as stimuli responsive gelators is reported. The gelation properties of the prepared compounds were investigated in a variety of organic as well as aqueous solvents. The most striking finding of our investigation was that the hydrochloride salts of the prepared conjugates acted as gelators, whereas the neutral conjugates were either non-gelators or formed only a weak gel in anisole. Use of QSAR methods for predicting the chemiluminescent behaviour of organic compounds upon reaction with potassium permanganate in an acid medium

In previous work, molecular connectivity computations were successfully used to predict the chemiluminescent behaviour of organic compounds upon reaction with common strong oxidants and the native fluorescence too; both of them in a liquid phase.
