Stage boundaries, global stratigraphy, and the time scale: towards a simplification

International audience; This paper examines four facets of stratigraphic terminology and usage considered faulty and proposes corrective measures. The four perfectible areas are: (1) The system of dual nomenclature requiring discrete terminologies for the superpositional and temporal aspects of rock units. (2) The premise that a GSSP establishes the base of a stage as being coincident with the top of the preceding stage rather than simply defining it as the boundary between stages. Developmental and content effects in reasoning with causal conditionals.

Abstract Two predictions derived from Markovits and Barrouillet's (2001) developmental model of conditional reasoning were tested in a study in which 72 twelve-year-olds, 80 fifteen-year-olds, and 104 adults received a paper-and-pencil test of conditional reasoning with causal premises (“if cause P then effect Q”). It is a major challenge to preoperatively identify patients who will profit from surgery of advanced oral cancer. In multimodality therapy, response to neoadjuvant radiation correlates to treatment success. Hence, for preoperative decisions, assessment of treatment response is required. Therefore, we analysed the prognostic significance of glucose metabolism after preoperative radiotherapy. Experts speak of violence as a psychosocial disease generated in violent environments habituation caused by a lack of democratic consciousness. In this regard, violence is broached in this paper considering it as some kind of atmosphere, especially when it is spread in school. Our contribution includes this perspective and concludes, after analysing the broad outlines of some programs and anti-harassment guidelines, the solution relates to promote social harmony and it goes through a basic premise: both aggressors and assaulted must be aware of their duties and basic rights.

In this paper, we outline a theoretical account of the relationship between technology and human musicality. An enactive and biocultural position is adopted that assumes a close coevolutionary relationship between the two. From this position, we aim at clarifying how the present and emerging technologies, becoming embedded and embodied in our lifeworld, inevitably co-constitute and transform musical practices, skills, and ways of making sense of music.
