Anxiety and the severity of Tension-Type Headache mediate the relation between headache presenteeism and workers’ productivity
2018
The primary objective of this study was to explore the mechanisms and conditions whereby Tension-Type Headache (TTH) presenteeism relates to health-related loss of productivity as a result of both reduced physical and mental health. To this end, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to conduct a secondary data analysis of a randomized clinical trial involving 78 Tension-type Headache (TTH) patients. The results showed that TTH presenteeism did not directly relate to health-related loss of productivity, either due to physical, or mental health problems. However, through anxiety-state, TTH presenteeism decreased patients' productivity, as consequence of reduced physical and mental healt…
The global burden of chronic urticaria for the patient and society*
2020
Chronic urticaria (CU) affects about 1% of the world population of all ages, mostly young and middle-aged women. It usually lasts for several years (> 1 year in 25-75% of patients) and often takes > 1 year before effective management is implemented. It presents as chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), chronic inducible urticaria (CIndU) or both in the same person. More than 25% of cases are resistant to H1 -antihistamines, even at higher doses, and third- and fourth-line therapies (omalizumab and ciclosporin) control the disease only in two-thirds of H1 -antihistamine-resistant patients. Here we review the impact of CU on different aspects of patients' quality of life and the burden of this …
Repérer, reconnaître et prévenir les risques psychosociaux : une analyse institutionnelle et économique du cas français
2017
In France, psychosocial risks (PSR) became a major concern for society by their stakes in termsof public health, costs for companies and workers. In the late 2000s, the Ministries of Labor and Health took up these challenges by initiating surveys, data collection and scientific works. Despite the development of knowledge about PSR and its consequences, the integration of these new risks into public and managerial policies is still very modest.Through an economic, institutional and empirical analysis, the main objective of this thesis is to contribute to a better knowledge of the consequences of PSR’ exposure for individual and for company, and to analyze the role of prevention authorities t…

767 Healthy enterprise standard(hes) evaluation: analysing effects and cost-benefit results with a qualitative evaluation of implementation process
2018
Introduction The Healthy Enterprise Standard (HES) is related to a certification program in Quebec (Canada) and targets four areas: Lifestyle, Work-life balance, Workplace environment and Management practices. The aim of this study was to open the black box of intervention and analyse the implementation process in order to interpret effects of HES on health and workplace risk factors, and cost-benefit results from the employer’s perspective. Methods We used a before-after design for a two-case analysis with a mixed-method approach. In two organisations from different sectors, quantitative data were collected with a questionnaire among all active workers before the standard’s implementation …
Sickness presenteeism of German teachers: prevalence and influencing factors
2016
AbstractThe aim of the present study was to investigate teachers’ sickness presenteeism (SP). We examined the prevalence of SP in a sample of teachers as well as work-related and health-related influencing factors of teachers’ SP. We used a cross-sectional study design. Teachers working at different types of schools in Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) participated in an online survey. We used Pearson’s Chi-squared test (in case of categorical variables) or Mann–Whitney-U-test (in case of continuous variables) to test for differences between SP and sociodemographic/work-related/health-related factors. Factors influencing SP were identified using multivariable logistic regression analyses. Nine…
Relationship between physical activity and predicted home presenteeism among participants with depressive symptoms with and without clinical depressi…
2021
Background and objectives Depression can pose a major threat to an individual’s ability to cope with daily activities. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between physical activity (PA) and predicted home presenteeism (PHP) among depressive participants. The relationship between PHP and the severity of depressive symptoms was also investigated. Methods A total of 760 participants with depressive symptoms (DS) aged ≥35 years participated in this study. The study was conducted between 2008 and 2016 in municipalities within the Central Finland Hospital District. DS were determined with the 21-item Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-21) with a cutoff score ≥10, and psychiatric dia…
