A MiR-142-3p/EGR2 Feedback Circuitry In Human CSF-1 Driven Differentiation of Monocytes Into Macrophages

Abstract Abstract 2366 Colony-stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1 or M-CSF) triggers the differentiation of human peripheral blood monocytes into macrophages through and integrated cytokine/transcription factors circuitry. Using microarray profiling to explore the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in this molecular circuitry, we identified the down-regulation of miR-142-3p in human macrophages obtained from CSF-1-treated monocytes. We show that miR-142-3p is a repressor of the transcription factor EGR2 (Early Growth Response 2) through direct 3'UTR interactions. Guillain-Barré syndrome after orthotopic liver transplantation: A clinical manifestation of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome?

Guillain-Barrè Syndrome, as part of the spectrum of dysimmune neuropathies, is unexpected to occur in immunocompromised hosts. We describe a clinical case of Guillain-Barrè syndrome, occurred a few weeks after a liver transplant, and we postulate that our case would satisfy all requirements to explain this peripheral nervous system complication as a clinical manifestation of an Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome. Hemocyanin in mollusks--a molecular survey and new data on hemocyanin genes in Solenogastres and Caudofoveata.

The most common respiratory protein of mollusks is the blue, copper-containing hemocyanin (van Holde and Miller, 1995). It is not bound to hemocytes but suspended in the hemolymph. Its molecular mass ranges from 3500 10 to 8000 10 Da (dalton) or even more (Herskovits, 1988). These differences in molecular weight are due to the fact that the basic decamers that constitute the barrel-shaped protein may aggregate to didecamers or multidecameric elongated particles (Herskovits, 1988). Fat-storing cells of the rat liver synthesize and secrete C1-esterase inhibitor; modulation by cytokines.

During liver fibrogenesis, fat-storing cells transform into myofibroblast-like cells and produce increasing amounts of extracellular matrix proteins. Because fat-storing cells produce α2-macroglobulin, an important serine protease inhibitor (serpin), we investigated whether fat-storing cells also synthesize C1-esterase inhibitor, another important serpin. Cytokine expression profile in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies.

Cytokines have been shown to be potent inducers of major histocompatibility complexes (MHC) class I and II as well as of cell adhesion molecules in muscle tissue cultures, indicating that cytokines may play a role in mediating muscle fiber damage in inflammatory myopathies. We found in 21 cases of autoimmune myositis various amounts of inflammatory cells expressing interleukin (IL)-1 alpha and -beta, IL-2, IL-4, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) -alpha and -beta, and interferon (IFN)-gamma and its receptor. Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is a heterodimeric cytokine that plays an important role in the regulation of the immune response. For biological activity the expression of both subunits of IL-12, p35 and p40, is required. Moreover, in the mouse the p40 chain of IL-12 specifically inhibits the effects of the IL-12 heterodimer. T cell–mediated response to SARS‐CoV‐2 in liver transplant recipients with prior COVID‐19

Abstract Whether immunosuppression impairs severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2‐specific T‐cell‐mediated immunity (SARS‐CoV‐2‐CMI) after liver transplantation (LT) remains unknown. We included 31 LT recipients in whom SARS‐CoV‐2‐CMI was assessed by intracellular cytokine staining (ICS) and interferon (IFN)‐γ FluoroSpot assay after a median of 103 days from COVID‐19 diagnosis. Serum SARS‐CoV‐2 IgG antibodies were measured by ELISA. A control group of non‐transplant immunocompetent patients were matched (1:1 ratio) by age and time from diagnosis. High-performance liquid chromatographic determination of diuretics in urine by micellar liquid chromatography.

The use of micellar liquid chromatography for the determination of diuretics in urine by direct injection of the sample into the chromatographic system is discussed. The retention of the urine matrix at the beginning of the chromatograms was observed for different sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) mobile phases. The eluent strengths of a hybrid SDS-methanol micellar mobile phase for several diuretics were compared and related to the stationary phase/water partition coefficient with a purely micellar mobile phase.
