Finding Learning in Teaching : Eritrean primary teacher educators' perspectives on implementing learner-centered and interactive pedagogies

Eritrea has given an increasing policy emphasis on implementing learner-centered interactive pedagogies (LCIP) at all levels of the education system. However, both teachers and teacher educators struggle with implementation of matching school practices. This study attempts to identify some of the gaps between the objectives set in the National Education Policy of the State of Eritrea and the everyday practices observable at the educational institutions. Intrinsic Lipschitz Graphs and Vertical β-Numbers in the Heisenberg Group

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and study some basic concepts of quantitative rectifiability in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}$. In particular, we aim to demonstrate that new phenomena arise compared to the Euclidean theory, founded by G. David and S. Semmes in the 90's. The theory in $\mathbb{H}$ has an apparent connection to certain nonlinear PDEs, which do not play a role with similar questions in $\mathbb{R}^{3}$. An inverse problem for the minimal surface equation

We use the method of higher order linearization to study an inverse boundary value problem for the minimal surface equation on a Riemannian manifold $(\mathbb{R}^n,g)$, where the metric $g$ is conformally Euclidean. In particular we show that with the knowledge of Dirichlet-to-Neumann map associated to the minimal surface equation, one can determine the Taylor series of the conformal factor $c(x)$ at $x_n=0$ up to a multiplicative constant. We show this both in the full data case and in some partial data cases.

Volume preserving mean curvature flows near strictly stable sets in flat torus

2021

In this paper we establish a new stability result for the smooth volume preserving mean curvature flow in flat torus $\mathbb T^n$ in low dimensions $n=3,4$. The result says roughly that if the initial set is near to a strictly stable set in $\mathbb T^n$ in $H^3$-sense, then the corresponding flow has infinite lifetime and converges exponentially fast to a translate of the strictly stable (critical) set in $W^{2,5}$-sense.

Background Exfoliative and erosive cheilitis, may be a source of speech and chewing discomfort, but may also be an aesthetic issue for the patients affected. Such a clinical presentation may implicate a variety of inflammatory conditions, including atopic (eczematous) cheilitis. Heterogeneity within and between primary colorectal carcinomas and matched metastases as revealed by analysis of Ki-ras and p53 mutations

Analysis of the genetic status of Ki-ras and p53 in primary colorectal carcinomas and matched colorectal liver metastasis from 30 patients reveals an overall heterogeneity both within and between the two tumoral tissues. Both genes were found mutated with a similar frequency in both tissues; however, identical mutations in primary tumor and matched metastasis were found less frequently in the case of the Ki-ras than the p53 gene. Only in three cases the same p53 and Ki-ras mutations found in the primary tumor were found also in the metastasis. Parental ability attributions regarding children's academic performance: Person-oriented approach on longitudinal data

The aim of this study was to identify subgroups of mothers and fathers who differ according to the patterns of causal attribution to ability for their children's academic success and failure across early school years. Teachers’ pedagogical and relational identity negotiation in the Finnish CLIL context

Abstract This study explores the professional identity of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teachers in Finnish primary education. It aims at explaining how CLIL teachers negotiate their pedagogical and relational identity, and how identity agency is exercised in negotiating a more encompassing professional identity. Thematic analysis of thirteen interviews outlines the bi-directional process of identity negotiation between personal and professional resources, and social contexts at work. The results highlight a connection between professional identity and agency, and suggest that identity negotiation is a process of working and sharing with others, but also individually.

ICT and Curriculum Change

The change towards the information society implies that many countries have to change their curricula, because students need to develop competencies that are not addressed in the traditional curricula. A case study approach was applied to examine curriculum changes in ICT-supported pedagogical practices from 28 countries. The analysis focused on curriculum content and goals of the ICT-supported pedagogical practices, how these aims were implemented in practice and which outcomes for students and teachers could be observed.
