Si presenta una nuova antologia manoscritta di canzoni siciliane, conservata a Catania presso un privato e databile intorno al 1600, che contiene una cospicua sezione di più di cinquanta ‘ottave’ intestate a vari autori accanto a 349 'canzuni' in massima parte adespote. Il manoscritto fu donato da un certo Lelio, da identificare probabilmente con Lelio Pavese (ob. 1608), a Paolo Pozzobonelli (1572-1630), entrambi nobili savonesi. nel segmento finale del manoscritto si rinviene una pregevole serie di ventidue ottave encomiastiche e di prigionia attribuite ad Antonio Veneziano “carcerato” e indirizzate a Francesco Santapau, principe di Butera, tra il 1588 e il 1590: se ne dà l’edizione commen…

Trying to question the naturalizing association of masculinity and violent conduct/crime, we will focus on the construction of an ideal masculine identity which puts emphasis on doing masculinity doing deviant behavior/crime.
