Endovascular Treatment with Drug-Eluting Balloon for Severe Subclavian Artery Stenosis Involving the Origin of the Vertebral Artery
2020
The first line approach for subclavian steal syndrome is PTA-stenting of subclavian artery. When the ipsilateral vertebral artery origin is involved or in closed proximity of the atherosclerotic lesion in the subclavian artery PTA-stenting is at risk of ipsilateral vertebral artery coverage. Herein we report our experience with DEB to address lesions involving the subclavian artery and the origin of the ipsilateral vertebral artery. From January 2017 to February 2019, patients presenting subclavian artery lesion involving the origin of the ipsilateral vertebral artery and treated using primary DEB, were included. Three patients, with left subclavian steal syndrome, were identified. The peri…
Contribution de l’artère auriculaire postérieure à la vascularisation du nerf facial dans l’espace préstylien : étude anatomique et conséquences chir…
2008
INTRODUCTION: The aim of our study was to establish a systematization of collateral branches originating from posterior auricular artery to facial nerve in prestylian space. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty posterior auricular arteries were studied on 15 fresh cadavers after selective patent blue injection. We observed subsequent colouration of facial nerve. Number and topography of collateral branches were highlighted. RESULTS: Posterior auricular artery supplied facial nerve in 67%. Collateral branches dedicated to facial nerve could be classified into three types: type 1 corresponded to one artery in prestylian space, type 2 to several branches in prestylian space; finally type 3 featured s…
Use of a new aneurysm clip with an inverted-spring mechanism to facilitate visual control during clip application. Technical note.
1995
✓ When operating on deep-seated cerebral aneurysms, the surgeon's visual control of clip application may be impaired by the clip holder unless adjacent structures are retracted. To improve visual control and reduce the necessity for retraction, the senior author (A.P.) developed a new concept: an aneurysm clip with an inverted-spring mechanism. The clip has two jaws that point away from the clip blades. The jaws of the clip holder articulate with the inner side of the clip jaws. By distending the jaws of the clip holder the blades of the clip are opened and vice versa. Thus the visual field increases while the clip application is proceeding. This instrumentation is useful, especially in cas…
Analytical characteristics, applications and perspectives in thermal lens spectrometry
1993
Abstract The following selected aspects of thermal lens spectrometry are briefly outlined: fundamentals, sensitivity and background noise, detection approaches, flowing samples, multi-wavelength experiments, thermal lens circular dichroism, associated colateral phenomena and physico-chemical applications and requirements of analytical procedures. The state-of-the-art and problems encountered are discussed.
Thymic transplantation for relief of immunodeficiency diseases.
1979
Tremendous advances have been made in replacement therapy regimens for the correction of immunodeficiency in transplant patients. Recently, cultured thymic fragments were shown to be devoid of lethal graft-versus-host cells and research in this area indicates that thymic transplantation may have a sustained positive effect in immunosuppressed patients.
Dental management of patients with microstomia. A review of the literature and update on the treatment.
2015
Difficulty in dental management is one of the factors that characterize the patient that requires special care in dentistry. One of the clinical conditions that make dental treatment particularly complex is microstomia.Microstomia is defined as a small and insufficient oral aperture that will hinder diagnosis and dental treatment. Although there have been reports of patients with diseases and syndromes that cause microstomia, the available literature offers only a limited number of reviews on this topic. The aim of this paper is to present a review of the etiology, clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of microstomia. In addition, to describe the therapeutic adaptations to be ap…
General anesthesia for oral and dental care in paediatric patients with special needs : a systematic review
2020
Background The objective of this study is to conduct a systematic review of the literature on the characteristics, needs and current situation of dental care for pediatric patients with special needs. Material and methods An exhaustive search for literature published until June 1, 2020. It was carried out using PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane and EBSCO, with the following keywords: Oral Surgical Procedures and Dentistry, Operational and Anesthesia, General Y (Spanish[lang] or English[lang] ) Y (infant[MeSH] Or child[MeSH] Or adolescent[MeSH]). The research was carried out following the PRISMA research methodology. Results The most common indication for general anesthesia (GA) was t…

Analysis of sociodemographic and clinical factors determining experience and satisfaction with nursing care among cardiosurgical unit patients
2022
Materiał i metody: Zbadano 100 pacjentów oddziału kardiochirurgicznego.
Mapping onto ideal chains overestimates self-entanglements in polymer melts
2017
In polymer physics it is typically assumed that excluded volume interactions are effectively screened in polymer melts. Hence, chains could be described by an effective random walk without excluded volume interactions. In this letter, we show that this mapping is problematic by analyzing the occurrence of knots, their spectrum and sizes in polymer melts, corresponding random walks and chains in dilute solution. The effective random walk severely overrates the occurrence of knots and their complexity, particularly when compared to melts of flexible chains, indicating that non-trivial effects due to remnants of self-avoidance still play a significant role for the chain lengths considered in t…
