3D Image Based Modelling Using Google Earth Imagery for 3D Landscape Modelling
2019
In recent years SfM technique experiments have been innumerable and increasingly refined under metric profiles. The techniques rely on photographic datasets of the objects or landscapes which can require in most cases time consuming and expensive surveys. Recently however there have been increases in the available 3D data of sites worldwide on the Google Earth (GE) platform. This paper presents a unique experimentation that considers integrating readily available datasets from GE and images taken during surveys on ground level for 3D replication without the use of expensive aerial surveys. This will enable practitioners the ability to more easily create 3D models of cultural heritage signif…
Survey and Photogrammetric Restitution of Monumental Complexes: Issues and Solutions—The Case of the Manfredonic Castle of Mussomeli
2019
The latest results obtained through photogrammetric restitution enhanced by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) survey achieved increased levels of accuracy. These survey solutions are used to rapidly obtain a detailed model with an excellent level of accuracy (centimetric) with cheaper equipment. However, the contour conditions are not always favorable for obtaining the best results in a simple way. The work presented in this paper shows the survey and the photogrammetric restitution of the Manfredonic Castle of Mussomeli in Sicily, developed as a part of the PON NEPTIS European Project, aimed at the valorization of Cultural Heritage (CH). This case is a typ…
Digital Technologies for the Fruition of Archaeological Heritage. The Visualisation of the Temple C Metopes Polychrome in Selinunte
2019
Through the tools of the representation this paper investigates a hypothetical virtual re-presentation of the metopes original polychromies. The reconstructive interpretative process was carried out through a critical reading of historical and iconographic sources. Starting from the reading of drawings made by Angell and Harris at the time of the archaeological finds, of Hittorff’s studies and watercolors, and of some coloured fragments still observable in the original metopes, the graphic elaborations that simulate the original polychromes have been prepared. The purpose of this study and of the analysis here described is the experimentation of an interactive visualisation application (aug…
Semantic-based Technique for the Automation the 3D Reconstruction Process
2010
Pages: 191 to 198, ISBN: 978-1-61208-104-5; International audience; The reconstruction of 3D objects based on point clouds data presents a major task in many application field since it consumes time and require human interactions to yield a promising result. Robust and quick methods for complete object extraction or identification are still an ongoing research topic and suffer from the complex structure of the data, which cannot be sufficiently modeled by purely numerical strategies. Our work aims at defining a new way of automatically and intelligently processing of 3D point clouds from a 3D laser scanner. This processing is based on the combination of 3D processing technologies and Semant…
A Geometrical Three-Ring-Based Model for MIMO Mobile-to-Mobile Fading Channels in Cooperative Networks
2011
Published version of an article published in the journal: Eurasip Journal on Advances in Signal Processing. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2011/892871. OA This paper deals with the modeling and analysis of narrowband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels in relay-based cooperative networks. In the transmission links from the source mobile station to the destination mobile station via the mobile relay, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions are taken into account. A stochastic narrowband MIMO M2M reference channel model is derived from the geometrical three-ring scattering model, where it is assumed that an infi…
The emerging role of 3D printing in the fabrication of detection systems
2021
Abstract 3D printing is fast evolving as an additive manufacturing technique that has been adopted in (bio)analytical science because of the ample variety of materials and technologies currently available for highly affordable prototyping. This review focuses on the unique characteristics of 3D printing for manufacturing of optical and electrochemical detection systems, and sampling interfaces for analytical purposes using fused deposition modelling, vat polymerization (stereolithography and digital light processing) and photopolymer inkjet printing. The majority of works surveyed within the time span of mid-2018 to mid-2020 encompassed the fabrication of several components of the detection…
Localization of 2D Cameras in a Known Environment Using Direct 2D-3D Registration
2014
International audience; In this paper we propose a robust and direct 2D-to- 3D registration method for localizing 2D cameras in a known 3D environment. Although the 3D environment is known, localizing the cameras remains a challenging problem that is particularly undermined by the unknown 2D-3D correspondences, outliers, scale ambiguities and occlusions. Once the cameras are localized, the Structure-from-Motion reconstruction obtained from image correspondences is refined by means of a constrained nonlinear optimization that benefits from the knowledge of the scene. We also propose a common optimization framework for both localization and refinement steps in which projection errors in one v…
Izziņas aktivitātes veicināšana vidējā pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem
2019
Kvalifikācijas darba temats: Izziņas aktivitātes veicināšana vidējā pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem. Pētījuma aktualitāti noteica apstāklis, ka ar 2019./2020. mācību gadu pirmsskolas izglītība ievieš jaunu izglītības standartu – kompetenču pieeju, kurā liela uzmanība tiek veltīta bērnu patstāvīgai izziņas aktivitātei. Tā kā joprojām ir vērojams jaunu metodisko materiālu trūkums jaunās izglītības pieejas kontekstā, tad svarīgi ir pētīt metodiskos paņēmienus, adaptēt agrāko pedagoģisko pieeju jaunajām prasībām. Pētījums izstrādāts ar mērķi noteikt pedagoģiskā procesa organizēšanas īpatnības un pedagoģiskos paņēmienus vidējā pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu izziņas aktivitātes veicināšanai kompetenču izglī…
Skolotāja palīga darbība pirmsskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā 4 - 5 gadīgu bērnu attīstības sekmēšanā
2017
Bakalaura darba autors. Līva Pauliņa Darba zinātniskais vadītājs. Prof. Anna Līduma Darba temats. Skolotāja palīga darbība pirmsskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā 4-5 gadīgu bērnu attīstības sekmēšanā Pētījuma mērķis. Pētīt skolotāja palīga darbības iespējas 4-5 gadīgu bērnu attīstības sekmēšanā. Darbam izvirzītā hipotēze. Skolotāja palīga darbība pirmsskolas izglītības iestādē 4-5 gadīgu bērnu attīstības sekmēšanā būs veiksmīga, ja: skolotāja palīgs aktīvi iesaistīsies pirmsskolas izglītības iestādes plānotajā darbā; grupas skolotāja un palīga darbība būs saskaņota; līdztiesīgi sadarbosies ar kolēģi (otru skolotāja palīgu) un grupas bērniem. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tika analizēta pētīta pedagoģi…
Do you know what you are reading for? Exploring the effects of a task model enhancement on fifth graders' purposeful reading
2021
International audience; Background: Drawing on theories of purposeful reading, this study explored task conditions that support fifth graders' selective reading of documents in order to answer questions. More specifically, we investigated whether promoting students' elaboration of their task model increases task performance. Methods: Participants had to answer series of questions by searching documents for the relevant information. Half the participants received a task model prompt, and half received a control prompt. Participants' eye movements were recorded during text search, in order to investigate more precisely the effect of an enhanced task model. Results: Participants provided more …
