Increasing girls' interest in technology education as a way to advance women in technology
2016
Technology-oriented fields are still largely male-dominated, and an effective approach for increasing the number of women in natural science and technology careers has not yet been achieved in EU countries. A related concern, particularly in Finland, is that even though gender equality and non-discrimination have long been critical concerns in education to date there has been very little of research in Finland about girls’ motivations towards technical craft or technology education, nor about their relation to women’s career aspirations in technology-oriented fields. The present study is my contribution to the concern of getting more women into technology by investigating how to increase gi…

2018
Kvalifikācijas darbs izstrādāts par tēmu „Vecāka pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu pozitīvās attieksmes veicināšana pret vienaudžiem”. Darba autore: Jekaterina Romanova Darba vadītāja: Asof.prof. Dr. Psyh. Valentīna Romenkova Kvalifikācijas darba mērķis ir noteikt paņēmienus, kas veicina bērnu pozitīvo attieksmi pret vienaudžiem. Kvalifikācijas darbs sastāv no divām daļām. Teorētiskajā daļā analizētas pedagoģijas un psiholoģijas zinātnieku atziņas par mijiedarbības procesu, raksturots bērnu 5-6 gadu vecums. Tāpat darba teorētiskajā daļā tika analizētas iespējas veicināt bērnu pozitīvās attieksmes pret vienaudžiem. Bērnu pozitīvā attieksme pret vienaudžiem vecākajā pirmsskolas vecumā veidojas no labv…

However, current dual-task tests appear to be insufficient for early diagnosi…
Students' understanding of ɛ-statements involving equality and limit
2018
International audience; The purpose of this paper is to explore how students may understand the link between the formalisations through ɛ-statements of infinite processes in the Archimedean continuum. These processes illustrate either equality or limit. In particular, we focus on the extent to which students perceive the formalisation of the infinite closeness notion in the two processes. The data is collected from an extensive design research carried out at the transition between Calculus course and Analysis course. TDS construct of milieu is deployed to build and to analyse exploratory teaching-experiments. The results put forward how ɛ-statements may assist students to reconsider their i…
Min-Type Control Strategy of a DC-DC Synchronous Boost Converter
2019
International audience; This paper presents the analysis and design of a min-type strategy to control a synchronous boost converter in continuous conduction mode. The strategy uses a nonlinear switching surface to establish the change of topology in the converter and is analyzed by means of a sliding-mode control approach. Subsequently, the min-type strategy is modified by a hybrid control formulation, which introduces a hysteresis width and a dwell-time to obtain a finite switching frequency in the start-up and steady-state respectively. The hybrid control formulation is implemented digitally by means of a microprocessor which processes the samples of inductor current and capacitor voltage…
ON-LINE CONSTRUCTION OF A SMALL AUTOMATON FOR A FINITE SET OF WORDS
2012
In this paper we describe a "light" algorithm for the on-line construction of a small automaton recognising a finite set of words. The algorithm runs in linear time. We carried out good experimental results on real dictionaries, on biological sequences and on the sets of suffixes (resp. factors) of a set of words that shows how our automaton is near to the minimal one. For the suffixes of a text, we propose a modified construction that leads to an even smaller automaton. We moreover construct linear algorithms for the insertion and deletion of a word in a finite set, directly from the constructed automaton.
Effects of Minimalist Footwear and Foot Strike Patterns on Plantar Pressure during a Prolonged Running
2022
The use of minimalist shoes (MS) in running involves changes in running mechanics compared to conventional shoes (CS), but there is still little research analysing the effects of this footwear on plantar pressure, which could help to understand some risk injury factors. Moreover, there are no studies examining the effects of a prolonged running and foot strike patterns on baropodometric variables in MS. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyse the changes produced using MS on plantar pressure during a prolonged running, as well as its interaction with the time and foot strike pattern. Twenty-one experienced minimalist runners (age 38 ± 10 years, MS running experience 2 ± 1 years) ran…
Understanding Consumers’ Convenience Orientation. An Exploratory Study of Fresh-Cut Fruit in Italy
2021
In Western society, the fresh-cut fruit market is experiencing significant growth, especially in Italy, where, in 2019, the fresh-cut fruit sales volume increased by 35% compared with the previous year. This study aims to understand Italian consumers&rsquo
