A dq axis theory of the magnetic, thermal, and mechanical properties of Curie motor

2011

A dq axis theory of a thermomagnetic Curie motor is presented. This theory allows one to estimate the performances of a Curie motor from its geometrical, magnetic, and thermal properties. The proposed approach shows that the thermomagnetic Curie motor is equivalent from a magnetic point of view to a dc electric machine. The physical meaning of the parameters used in the dq theory of Curie motor is explicated. The theory is validated by using experimental data.

Detection of Ventricular Fibrillation Using the Image from Time-Frequency Representation and Combined Classifiers without Feature Extraction

Due the fact that the required therapy to treat Ventricular Fibrillation (V F) is aggressive (electric shock), the lack of a proper detection and recovering therapy could cause serious injuries to the patient or trigger a ventricular fibrillation, or even death. This work describes the development of an automatic diagnostic system for the detection of the occurrence of V F in real time by means of the time-frequency representation (T F R) image of the ECG. Data-driven analysis of simultaneous EEG/fMRI reveals neurophysiological phenotypes of impulse control

Response inhibition is the ability to suppress inadequate but prepotent or ongoing response tendencies. A fronto-striatal network is involved in these processes. Between-subject differences in the intra-individual variability have been suggested to constitute a key to pathological processes underlying impulse control disorders. Single-trial EEG/fMRI analysis allows to increase sensitivity for inter-individual differences by incorporating intra-individual variability. Thirty-eight healthy subjects performed a visual Go/Nogo task during simultaneous EEG/fMRI. Electrochemical abatement of chloroethanes in water: Reduction, oxidation and combined processes

An electrochemical route, based on the anodic oxidation to carbon dioxide coupled with the cathodic reduction to de-halogenated hydrocarbons, was proposed for the treatment of waters contaminated by chloroethanes. The electrochemical abatement of two model compounds, namely 1,2-dichloroethane and 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, was carried out by cathodic reduction at silver, anodic oxidation at boron doped diamond (BDD) and combined processes. A numerical study of the Schumann resonances in Mars with the FDTD method

[1] Natural electromagnetic waves generated near the surface by electrostatic discharges in dust storms (dust devils) or by geological activity could be trapped in the resonant cavity formed by the surface and lower ionosphere of Mars, as it occurs on Earth giving rise to Schumann resonances. Dynamics of Magnetotactic Bacteria in a Rotating Magnetic Field

The dynamics of the motile magnetotactic bacterium Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense in a rotating magnetic field is investigated experimentally and analyzed by a theoretical model. These elongated bacteria are propelled by single flagella at each bacterial end and contain a magnetic filament formed by a linear assembly of approximately 40 ferromagnetic nanoparticles. The movements of the bacteria in suspension are analyzed by consideration of the orientation of their magnetic dipoles in the field, the hydrodynamic resistance of the bacteria, and the propulsive force of the flagella. Rhogocytes are pore cells scattered among the connective tissue of different body parts of gastropods and other molluscs, with great variation in their number, shape and size. They are enveloped by a lamina of extracellular matrix. Transport properties of nitrogen doped p‐gallium selenide single crystals

Nitrogen doped gallium selenide single crystals are studied through Hall effect and photoluminescence measurements in the temperature ranges from 150 to 700 K and from 30 to 45 K, respectively. The doping effect of nitrogen is established and room temperature resistivities as low as 20 Ω cm are measured. The temperature dependence of the hole concentration can be explained through a single acceptor‐single donor model, the acceptor ionization energy being 210 meV, with a very low compensation rate.
