The focus of this article is the emergent and potential indications of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Emergent applications of CEUS techniques include extravascular and intracavitary contrast-enhanced ultrasound, quantitative assessment of microvascular circulation for tumor response assessment, and tumor characterization using dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US). Studies of the temporal pole (TP) in schizophrenia patients are not consistent. The aim of this study was to investigate morphometric anomalies of the TP in first-episode schizophrenia patients. Patients did not significantly differ from controls in the TP morphometric variables evaluated. Clinical variables were not significantly related to the TP.

Endoscopy plays an essential role in the diagnosis, management, prognosis, and surveillance of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but surprisingly there are few available guidelines.1,2 This prompted the ECCO Guidelines Committee (GuiCom) members to promote a Consensus on the appropriate indication and application of different endoscopic modalities in IBD. Pharmacogenomics in psychiatry: from therapeutic drug monitoring to genomic medicine.

Psychiatry is increasingly combining new pharmacogenomic findings with therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) to improve the safety and efficacy of pharmacotherapy. However, a distinction should be made between “nice to know” and “need to know” pharmacogenomic data because many results are statistically significant in meta-analyses but are not clinically relevant due to their low effect sizes. Some examples will illustrate this integration.
