Diastereoselective Synthesis of 2-Phenylselenenyl-1,3-anti-Diols and 2-Phenylselenenyl-1,3-anti-Azido-Alcohols via Hydroxy- and Azido-Selenenylation …
2005
A method to synthesize 2-phenylselenenyl-1,3-anti-diols and 2-phenyl- selenenyl-1,3-anti-azidoalcohols via hydroxy- or azido-selenenylation of trans-allylic alcohols is reported. Moreover, the first example of hydroxyl-selenenylation of an allylic azide is presented. Yields ranging from moderate to good and diastereomeric ratios up to 95:5 are achieved.
Experimental and Computational Studies of Hydrogen Bonding and Proton Transfer to [Cp*Fe(dppe)H]
2005
The present contribution reports experimental and computational investigations of the interaction between [Cp*Fe(dppe)H] and different proton donors (HA). The focus is on the structure of the proton transfer intermediates and on the potential energy surface of the proton transfer leading to the dihydrogen complex [Cp*Fe(dppe)(H2)]+. With p-nitrophenol (PNP) a UV/Visible study provides evidence of the formation of the ion-pair stabilized by a hydrogen bond between the nonclassical cation [Cp*Fe(dppe)(H2)]+ and the homoconjugated anion ([AHA]-). With trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), the hydrogen-bonded ion pair containing the simple conjugate base (A-) in equilibrium with the free ions is observed…
Pharmacological studies of 1-(p-chlorophenyl)propanol and 2-(1-hydroxy-3-butenyl)phenol: Two new non-narcotic analgesics designed by molecular connec…
1997
Abstract Molecular topology has been applied to the design of new analgesic drugs. Linear discriminant analysis and connectivity functions were used to design two potentially suitable drugs which were synthesized and tested for analgesic properties by the acetic acid-induced abdominal constriction test in mice and the tail-flick test in rats. In mice, the compound 1-(p-chlorophenyl)propanol showed higher analgesic activity, both intraperitoneally and orally, than acetylsalicylic acid. 2-(1-Hydroxy-3-butenyl)phenol exhibited a lesser protective effect (70% of that shown by acetylsalicylic acid). In rats, acetylsalicylic acid gave the greatest protection against pain when administered intrape…
Maleimide Glycidyl Ether: A Bifunctional Monomer for Orthogonal Cationic and Radical Polymerizations.
2015
A novel bifunctional monomer, namely maleimide glycidyl ether (MalGE), prepared in a four-step reaction sequence is introduced. This monomer allows for selective (co)polymerization of the epoxide group via cationic ring-opening polymerization, preserving the maleimide functionality. On the other hand, the maleimide functionality can be copolymerized via radical techniques, preserving the epoxide moiety. Cationic ring-opening multibranching copolymerization of MalGE with glycidol was performed, and a MalGE content of up to 24 mol% could be incorporated into the hyperbranched polymer backbone (Mn = 1000-3000 g mol(-1)). Preservation of the maleimide functionality during cationic copolymerizat…
Cationic Copolymerization of 3,3-Bis(hydroxymethyl)oxetane and Glycidol: Biocompatible Hyperbranched Polyether Polyols with High Content of Primary H…
2015
The cationic ring-opening copolymerization of 3,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)oxetane (BHMO) with glycidol using different comonomer ratios (BHMO content from 25 to 90%) and BF3OEt2 as an initiator has been studied. Apparent molecular weights of the resulting hyperbranched polyether copolymers ranged from 1400 to 3300 g mol(-1) (PDI: 1.21-1.48; method: SEC, linear PEG standards). Incorporation of both comonomers is evidenced by MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy. All hyperbranched polyether polyols with high content of primary hydroxyl groups portray good solubility in water, which correlates with an increasing content of glycerol units. Detailed NMR characterization was employed to elucidate the copolymer …
Enantioselective alkynylation of benzo[e][1,2,3]-oxathiazine 2,2-dioxides catalysed by (R)-VAPOL-Zn complexes: synthesis of chiral propargylic cyclic…
2015
[EN] (R)-VAPOL-Zn(II) complexes catalysed the enantioselective addition of terminal alkynes to cyclic benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides, providing the corresponding chiral propargylic sulfamidates with high yields (up to 93%) and good enantiomeric excesses (up to 87%).
Synthesis and structure-activity relationship studies of cytotoxic cinnamic alcohol derivatives.
2011
Three series of di- and trisubstituted derivatives of cinnamic alcohol and its conjugated dienol analogues were designed and synthesised. The derivatives were screened for cytotoxicity against nine tumour cell lines: KB, A549, Hela, CNE, PC-3, BEL-7404, HL-60, BGC823 and P388D1. Most of the cinnamic alcohol derivatives showed cytotoxic activity. The compound 7-(4',5'-dichlorobenzyloxy)-6,8-dihydroxycinnamic alcohol (55) exhibited significant cytotoxicity to seven human tumour cell lines on a micromolar range, especially with regard to the KB and P388D1 cell lines, showing IC(50) values of 0.4 and 0.5 µM, respectively. The structure-activity relationships of the derivatives are discussed.
