Aims: To assess toxicity and clinical outcomes of moderately hypofractionated helical tomotherapy (HT) for the curative treatment of localized prostate cancer (PC). Methods: From December 2012 to May 2018, 170 patients were treated with definitive intent for PC. Thirty-four percent were low risk, 30% intermediate risk (IR) and 36% high risk (HR). We selected 63 prostate tumors with Gleason's grade 6 (3+3), commonly showing both tubular and cribrous patterns. Reelin expression in human prostate cancer: a marker of tumor aggressiveness based on correlation with grade

Reelin is a glycoprotein that plays a critical role in the regulation of neuronal migration during brain development and, since reelin has a role in the control of cell migration, it might represents an important factor in cancer pathology. In this study, 66 surgical specimens of prostate cancer were analyzed for reelin expression by immunohistochemical method. The reelin expression was correlated with Gleason score and individual Gleason patterns. Reelin expression was found in 39% prostate cancers. Epithelioid Leiomyoma of the Prostate

We report a case of an unusual mesenchymal tumor of the prostate. Rectal-digital palpation and transrectal ultrasound showed a circumscribed and inhomogeneous tumor within the right prostatic lobe. Surgical treatment consisted of transurethral resection of the right prostatic lobe. On the basis of morphology and immunohistochemical detection of desmin and smooth-muscle-type actin, the diagnosis of an epithelioid leiomyoma was made. This is the first report of this entity in the prostate. A definite prediction of the biological potential is currently not yet possible.
