Nanoelektroniskās ierīcēs ir plaši izmantojams kvantu punkts, kura īpašības ir atkarīgas no elektronu sadalījuma pa kvantu punkta enerģētiskajiem līmeņiem. Tunelēšanas procesi kvantu punktā bieži vien notiek režīmā, kurā elektroni nespēj relaksēt līdzsvara stāvoklī, kas var ietekmēt darbības efektivitāti. Otrais nozīmīgs faktors, ko mēs gribam ņemt vērā, ir elektronisko līmeņu spektra diskrēta daba, kas ietekmē sadalījuma formu. Šo divu efektu ietekme tiek izpētīta mūsu darbā, modelējot kvantu punkta-tuneļbarjeras-kontakta sistēmu ar Kinētisko Montekarlo metodi. Zinātniskās fantastikas ilustrāciju vizuālā stilistika

Diplomdarbā tika pētītas zinātniskās fantastikas ilustrācijas, to attīstības vēsture un vizuālā stilistika. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tika noskaidrots zinātniskās fantastikas jēdziens un tā vēsturiskā izcelšanās un pazīmes, kas norāda piederību šim žanram. Tika apskatīti tādi zinātniskās fantastikas apakšžanri kā: space opera, new wave, cyberpunk un steampunk. Kā arī tiem piemītošās stilistiskās īpatnības. Attiecīgi katram attīstības posmam apzināti tā perioda ilustratori. Darba empīriskajā daļā tika apzinātas un analizētas zinātniskās fantastikas ilustrācijas, sagrupējot tās pa četriem laika periodiem. Vibrational Spectrum of HXeSH revisited : Combined computational and experimental study

Vibrational spectrum of HXeSH embedded in low-temperature matrix is experimentally studied. To support the spectrum interpretation, anharmonic vibrational analysis is performed using different models and basis sets and the data is compared with previous experimental and theoretical analyses. Computations of overtones and combination modes allowed for new band assignments. The HXeSH molecule exhibits high anharmonicity similarly as other molecules from the noble-gas hydride family. Comparison of the employed computational methods shows once again that the modelling of the noble-gas compounds faces theoretical challenges to yield quantitatively reliable results. peerReviewed
New insight on metal finds of the Punic Ship of Lilibeum

In this paper, the investigation of some finds (two nails, a head and a long shaft nail, and a fragment of Lead sheathing) belonging to the wreck of the Punic ship and exhibited at Museo Archeologico Regionale Lilibeo (Trapani, Italy), is reported. The X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) allowed us to identify the elements constituting them making some discussion deductions about their composition and degradation occurred.

Indicaxanthin (IX) from Opuntia Ficus Indica (OFI) has been shown to exert numerous biological effects both in vitro and in vivo, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuro-modulatory activity in rodent models. Our goal was to investigate the eventual neuro-active role of orally assumed fruits containing high levels of IX at nutritionally-relevant amounts in healthy subjects, exploring cortical excitability and plasticity in the human motor cortex (M1).
