The relationship between organizational dissent and workplace freedom of speech: A cross-cultural analysis in Singapore
2017
AbstractThis study is a test of the relationship between organizational dissent and the perception of workplace freedom of speech in Singapore. Through a quantitative analysis of 384 individuals in Singapore, the following was found: articulated dissent and latent dissent are positively correlated with workplace freedom of speech. In addition, multiple analysis of covariance analyses revealed nation of birth exerted considerable influence on articulated dissent, and latent dissent, but not on workplace freedom of speech. The results provide evidence of how nation of birth is related to an individual’s willingness to express dissent. Theoretical and practical implications for research into o…

The recovery and radiation of Early Jurassic ammonoids: morphologic versus palaeobiogeographical patterns
2001
Abstract The recovery and radiation of the Early Jurassic ammonoid morphospace, as represented by nine morphologic groups identified in an earlier study, are traced through the first 36 subzones of the Hettangian to Domerian time interval. A quantitative survey of the dispersion of 436 species over 15 palaeogeographical areas reveals seven palaeobiogeographical patterns, each corresponding to an exclusive set of species exhibiting similar characteristics in terms of distribution and abundance. This study combines morphologic, chronostratigraphical, and palaeobiogeographical data in an attempt to investigate possible connections between morphologic recovery and radiation patterns and the his…
Determinants of elimination decisions in the activity scheduling process
2016
[EN] This paper presents an analysis on the determinants related to a particular rescheduling decision in the activity-travel scheduling process: elimination decisions, which consist in the non-execution of pre-planned activity-travel episodes. Data used come from an in-depth computer-assisted telephone interview (CATI) follow up survey carried out during the implementation of the first wave of an activity scheduling process panel survey. Open-ended answers related to the reasons associated to changes between pre-planned and executed agenda are studied. First, an interpretative qualitative method based on analytic induction (AI) is used to cope with the complex nature of the rescheduling de…
Single-shot two-frame π-shifted spatially multiplexed interference phase microscopy
2019
Single-shot, two-frame, π-shifted spatially multiplexed interference microscopy (π-SMIM) is presented as an improvement to previous SMIM implementations, introducing a versatile, robust, fast, and accurate method for cumbersome, noisy, and low-contrast phase object analysis. The proposed π-SMIM equips a commercially available nonholographic microscope with a high-speed (video frame rate) enhanced quantitative phase imaging (QPI) capability by properly placing a beam-splitter in the microscope embodiment to simultaneously (in a single shot) record two holograms mutually phase shifted by π radians at the expense of reducing the field of view. Upon subsequent subtractive superimposition of hol…

LeptonInjector and LeptonWeighter: A neutrino event generator and weighter for neutrino observatories
2021
We present a high-energy neutrino event generator, called LeptonInjector, alongside an event weighter, called LeptonWeighter. Both are designed for large-volume Cherenkov neutrino telescopes such as IceCube. The neutrino event generator allows for quick and flexible simulation of neutrino events within and around the detector volume, and implements the leading Standard Model neutrino interaction processes relevant for neutrino observatories: neutrino-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and neutrino-electron annihilation. In this paper, we discuss the event generation algorithm, the weighting algorithm, and the main functions of the publicly available code, with examples.
Atom-based non-stochastic and stochastic bilinear indices: Application to QSPR/QSAR studies of organic compounds
2008
The recently introduced bilinear indices are applied to the QSAR/QSPR studies of heteroatomic molecules. These novel atom-based molecular fingerprints are used to predict the boiling point of 28 alkyl-alcohols and partition coefficient, specific rate constant and antibacterial activity of 34 2-furylethylenes derivatives. The obtained models are statistically significant and show rather very good stability in a cross-validation experiment. The comparison with other approaches exposes a good behavior of our method in this QSPR studies. The obtained results suggest that with the present method, it is possible to obtain a good estimation of physical, chemical and physicochemical properties for …
