Stakeholders’ expectations of Healthy Life Centers: A focus group study

Aims: The aims of this study were to explore stakeholders’ expectations of municipal Healthy Life Centers (HLCs) in Norway, and to evaluate whether these expectations were compatible with current guidelines and recommendations. Methods: A multidisciplinary team of researchers arranged focus group sessions with Healthy Life Centre staff, municipality administration, county administration, general practitioners and representatives of three patient organizations. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of ethnicity and cerebroplacental ratio (CPR) on the birth weight (BW) of first generation Indo-Pakistan immigrants' newborns.This was a retrospective study in a mixed population of 620 term Caucasian and Indo-Pakistan pregnancies, evaluated in two reference hospitals of Spain and Italy. Dismantling the rhetoric of alternative medicine: Smokescreens, errors, conspiracies, and follies

Alternative medicine is popular, and one of the reasons for this phenomenon is that it is relentlessly being promoted with the use of a wide range of fallacies, arguments which appear to be logic and true but which turn out on closer inspection to be illogical and false. In this article, I use my experience in alternative medicine research to discuss some of the most commonly employed fallacies. I conclude that they are used by proponents of alternative medicine to mislead the public such that even the most extravagant absurdities appear plausible. Collectively these fallacies constitute attacks upon rationality and progress in healthcare.

Using methods of molecular psychophysics, we quantified the extent to which (1) a masker-induced impairment of the representation of target intensity (i.e., increase in internal noise) and (2) a systematic influence of the masker intensities on the decision variable contribute to these effects. Abstract Aim Type A personality—characterized by time urgency, strong drive, and a need for achievement and competitiveness—has been shown to be associated with reduced mortality in patients with diabetes. However, it is not known whether a Type A personality might protect against diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). This prompted our present analysis of the association between Type A personality and DFU. Population-based cancer registries in Spain and their role in cancer control

Abstract Population-based cancer registries (PBCRs) are a key element for cancer control. They measure cancer incidence and trends, provide indicators for planning and evaluating cancer control activities, and undertake research. The first two PBCRs in Spain were established in Zaragoza in 1960 and Navarre in 1970, but it was from 1980 to 1995 when most of the existing registries went into operation. Today, 26.5% of the Spanish population is served by a cancer registry.
