In this chapter, we give background information and preliminary results on the main link between the geometry and the algebra used for our arithmetic applications: the (discrete-time) geodesic ow on quotients of Bruhat{Tits trees by arithmetic lattices.

Seven physically fit (well-trained, maximal oxygen uptake 69.6 +/- 4.4 ml x kg-1 min-1) and eight less fit (moderately trained, maximal oxygen uptake 56.1 +/- 5.7 ml x kg-1 x min-1) healthy male subjects were exercised for 4 h by bicycle ergometry against a pedalling resistance calculated to cause oxygen consumption corresponding to approximately 30% of each individual's maximal oxygen uptake value. Respiratory exchange ratio was estimated at 1 h and blood glucose and lactate concentrations and muscle glycogen content at 2 h intervals. It is proved that the Menger universal curve M admits a continuous decomposition into pseudo-arcs with the quotient space homeomorphic to M. Wilson proved [8] Anderson's announcement [1] saying that for any Peano continuum X the Menger universal curve M admits a continuous decomposition into homeomorphic copies of M such that the quotient space is homeomorphic to X. Topological Decompositions of the Pauli Group and their Influence on Dynamical Systems

In the present paper we show that it is possible to obtain the well known Pauli group $P=\langle X,Y,Z \ | \ X^2=Y^2=Z^2=1, (YZ)^4=(ZX)^4=(XY)^4=1 \rangle $ of order $16$ as an appropriate quotient group of two distinct spaces of orbits of the three dimensional sphere $S^3$. The first of these spaces of orbits is realized via an action of the quaternion group $Q_8$ on $S^3$; the second one via an action of the cyclic group of order four $\mathbb{Z}(4)$ on $S^3$. We deduce a result of decomposition of $P$ of topological nature and then we find, in connection with the theory of pseudo-fermions, a possible physical interpretation of this decomposition.

We use this algebra-coalgebra duality as a common perspective for the study of equations and coequations. For every automaton ( X , α ) , we define two new automata: free ( X , α ) and cofree ( X , α ) representing, respectively, the greatest set of equations and the smallest set of coequations satisfied by ( X , α ) . The objectives of this study were (a) to evaluate parental stress in parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD group) and compare it with the stress in parents of children with typical development (comparison group); (b) to study the relationship between parental stress, autism severity, and both verbal and performance IQ; and (c) to study the relationship between parental stress and resilience. Parental stress in the ASD group was clinically significant and higher than in the comparison group.
