Mafia e costi psichici.

Identification of determinants for rescheduling travel mode choice and transportation policies to reduce car use in urban areas

2018

[EN] This paper presents a qualitative analysis about the determinants related to rescheduling travel mode decisions during the activity scheduling process. Notably, we were interested to study changes between intention and behavior. Data used came from an in-depth Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) follow up survey to habitual drivers carried out during the implementation of a panel survey. An interpretative qualitative method based on Analytic Induction was used to cope with the complex nature of rescheduling decisions and the characteristics of the data. The Theory of Planned Behavior has been used to gain a better understanding of the reasons associated with rescheduling trave…

Halloysite nanotubes filled with salicylic acid and sodium diclofenac: effects of vacuum pumping on loading and release properties

2021

AbstractIn this work, we investigated the effects of the vacuum pumping on both the loading efficiencies and the release kinetics of halloysite nanotubes filled with drug molecules dissolved in ethanol. As model drugs, salicylic acid and sodium diclofenac were selected. For comparison, the loading of the drug molecules was conducted on platy kaolinite to explore the key role of the hollow tubular morphology on the filling mechanism of halloysite. The effects of the pressure conditions used in the loading protocol were interpreted and discussed on the basis of the thermodynamic results provided by Knudsen thermogravimetry, which demonstrated the ethanol confinement inside the halloysite cavi…

L’influenza del governo della dimensione socio-politica sulla sopravvivenza e sviluppo delle aziende

2010

This paper analysis the socio-political dimension of the firm, focusing the attention on how it affects the survival and development of the firm. In particular, the article emphasizes that in some conditions the management of the socio-political dimension is a necessity to the firm, whereas in other is a discretionary choice due to a particular conception of development.

Morphometry and comparative histology of sinus and atrioventricular nodes in humans and pigs and their relevance in the prevention of nodal arrhythmi…

2019

The cardiac conduction system is a network structure that allows the initiation and fast propagation of electrical impulses that trigger the electrical depolarization of the myocardial tissue. The purpose of this work is to study the histological and morphometric characteristics of the different components of the sinus and atrioventricular nodes in humans and pigs and their relationship with supraventricular arrhythmias. In this study, we describe the morphometry of the sinus and atrioventricular nodes of 10 adult humans and 10 pig hearts. A computerized morphometric study has been carried out, where we determined the number of cells that compose the nodes as well as different parameters re…

Intravascular ultrasound imaging of arterial wall architecture.

1992

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a promising new technique for assessing vascular morphology and structure. Controversy exists whether the three-layer appearance of the arterial wall correctly reflects the histologic structures of the intima, media, and adventitia. We performed an experimental study to clarify the three-layer appearance. The vessel wall architecture was analyzed by IVUS on eight different kinds of plastic cylinders, 24 normal blood vessels from pigs, and 59 human arterial segments. A distinct three-layer appearance was observed on all the plastic cylinders when the ultrasound beam was perpendicular to the wall. A three-layer appearance was also seen in the arterial wall, …

Sorbitol-penetration enhancer containing vesicles loaded with baicalin for the protection and regeneration of skin injured by oxidative stress and UV…

2018

Abstract Aiming at improving the protective effects of baicalin on the skin, new highly-biocompatible penetration enhancer containing vesicles (PEVs) were developed by modifying the base formulation of transfersomes with sorbitol, thus obtaining sorbitol-PEVs. An extensive evaluation of the physico-chemical features of both transfersomes and sorbitol-PEVs was carried out. Transfersomes were mainly close-packed, multi-compartment vesicles, while sorbitol-PEVs appeared mostly as single, spherical, unilamellar vesicles. All the vesicles were small in size (∼128 nm) and negatively charged (∼−67 mV), without significant differences between the formulations. The in vitro delivery of baicalin to i…

Woodcuts and Some Words: Edward Gordon Craig’s lasting impressions

2019

This article examines Edward Gordon Craig’s analogy between drama and wood engraving, stage and printed page in his autobiographical handbook on wood engraving, Woodcuts and Some Words (1924). Taking as a premise Craig’s interest in the world of print as materialization of his “new theatre”, it explores the semantic shift of the notion of impression from the symbolist realm of suggestion to that of modernist imprint. It finally seeks to determine the significance of engraving in Craig’s career, a medium that was the matrix, the relic and the archive of the images and of the ideal vision he pursued all his life.

L'Etat, les relations industrielles et la démocratie sociale

2014

From 2008, the french Ministry of Labour has promoted several reforms which claim to be social democracy. The use of the indefinite and polisemic notion refers to the regulation of social relationships at work (or “industrial relations”). The paper focuses the development of these relations from the 19th century, through the recognition by the State of trade unions. Then, it asks the notion of “social democracy” and its current perspectives or limits.

Preliminary results of a geomorphological and DInSAR characterization of a recently identified Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformation in Sicily …

2019

The study is part of a larger project that involves the analysis of recently identified Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformation (DSGSD) in Sicily which have been sub-divided according to the geological framework in light of the new geological data about the regional setting. Here are presented the first results of a multidisciplinary study of a DSGSD recently identify in Mount San Calogero area (Northern Sicily). The study was performed by means of different approaches including conventional methods (field surveys) and the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) technique. The geological and geomorphological analyses were carried out to investigate slopes dynamic, …
