Actual and Potential Pedagogical Use of Tablets in Schools

This study reviews the potential of tablet technology for teaching and learning. In autumn 2012, we conducted a focused survey comprising quantitative and qualitative questions with Finnish teachers (N = 171, from 54 schools). We focused on perceived pedagogical opportunities and the actualized pedagogical potential of tablets at schools. The survey results indicate that the actual usefulness of tablets in schools was significantly less than what teachers perceived as the pedagogical potential. However, the results demonstrate the positive impact these devices are having on teaching and learning, as well as prompting changes in pedagogical perspectives. Impiego di un modello predittivo per la microflora del salame S. Angelo in corso di asciugature

The authors carried out a study in order to apply an interspecific competition model to predict the microflora behaviour of S.Angelo IGP salami during the ripening. They consider 3 bacterial population (Lactic Acid Bacteria, Enterobacteria and Listeria monocytogenes – LAB, Ent and Lmo) using the observed curves obtained in a previous work as validation. The model applied setting to 0 all interaction terms does not fit the observed curves while the introduction of 3 interaction terms (betaLmo/LAB = 0.65; betaEnt/LAB = 0.4; betaLmo/Ent = 0.18) produce a good agreement with the observed behaviour of all populations.

Objetivo Desarrollar un modelo clínico predictivo de riesgo de malignidad cuando el nódulo pulmonar solitario (NPS) presente un SUVmax ≤ 2,5. Entre los objetivos secundarios están determinar la prevalencia de malignidad, la relación entre una actividad metabólica (SUVmax) baja y el tamaño del NPS, y el acuerdo inter- e intra-observador para el tamaño y la morfología del NPS. Recursion at the crossroads of sequence modeling, random trees, stochastic algorithms and martingales

This monograph synthesizes several studies spanning from dynamical systems in the statistical analysis of sequences, to analysis of algorithms in random trees and discrete stochastic processes. These works find applications in various fields ranging from biological sequences to linear regression models, branching processes, through functional statistics and estimates of risk indicators for insurances. All the established results use, in one way or another, the recursive property of the structure under study, by highlighting invariants such as martingales, which are at the heart of this monograph, as tools as well as objects of study.
Chemoselective, Substrate-directed Fluorination of Functionalized Cyclopentane β-Amino Acids

This work describes a substrate-directed fluorination of some highly functionalized cyclopentane derivatives. The cyclic products incorporating CH2 F or CHF2 moieties in their structure have been synthesized from diexo- or diendo-norbornene β-amino acids following a stereocontrolled strategy. The synthetic study was based on an oxidative transformation of the ring carbon-carbon double bond of the norbornene β-amino acids, followed by transformation of the resulted "all cis" and "trans" diformyl intermediates by fluorination with "chemodifferentiation".
