Using and Extending the SPEM Specifications to Represent Agent Oriented Methodologies
2009
Situational Method Engineering used for constructing ad-hoc agent oriented design processes is grounded on a well defined set of phases that are principally based on reuse of components coming from existing agent design processes; these components have to be stored in a repository. The identification and extraction of these components could take large advantages from the existence of a standardized representation of the design processes they come from. In this paper we illustrate our solution based on SPEM 2.0 specifications for modelling agent design processes and extending them when necessary to meet the specific needs we faced in our experiments.
Partial stability for specific growth rate control biotechnological fed-batch processes
2004
In this paper, the problem of the specific growth rate control in biological reactions in fed-batch mode is dealt with. It is assumed that only part of the state is measurable on-line, namely biomass and volume. Moreover, no estimation of the specific growth rate is used. An unbounded manifold is tracked using a partial state feedback. Then, techniques for partial stability, i.e., only with respect to part of the variables, are used in order to analyze the problem.
Current Trends on the Acquisition, Virtual Representation, and Interaction of Cultural Heritage
2020
Cultural heritage (CH) tells us about our roots, and therefore, constitutes a rich value for the society. Its conservation, dissemination, and understanding are of utmost importance. In order to preserve CH for the upcoming generations, it needs to be documented, a process that nowadays is done digitally. Current trends involve a set of technologies (cameras, scanners, etc.) for the shape and radiometric acquisition of assets. Also, intangible CH can be digitally documented in a variety of forms. Having such assets virtualized, a proper dissemination channel is of relevance, and recently, new technologies that make use of interaction paradigms have emerged. Among them, in this chapter, the …
U.I.R.D.A. – Unbuilt Italian Rationalism Digital Archive
2018
For twenty years, the architecture of Italian rationalism through the digital modelling has been investigated. Very often, the production of a model and the consequent representation of tridimensional views, in many case studies, as outcome of the research on architecture have been considered. Actually, the digital model, intended as a critical tool, has to be conceived as a ‘starting point' for graphic analysis of architecture and not as the outcome. Indeed, it is associated to other graphics, sometimes not ‘deducted' from the model, useful for the understanding/translation of architecture. The construction of the model is not the construction of a simple image, operation, which is often c…
A DC behavioral electrical model for quasi-linear spin-valve devices including thermal effects for circuit simulation
2011
An advanced model for quasi-linear spin-valve (SV) structures is presented for circuit simulation purposes. The model takes into account electrical and thermal effects in a coupled way in order to allow a coherent representation of the sensor physics for design purposes of electronics applications based on these sensor devices. The model was implemented in Verilog-A and used in a commercial circuit simulator. For testing the model, different SV structures have been specifically fabricated and measured. The characterization included DC measurements as well as steady-state and transient thermal analysis. From the experimental data, the parameters of the model have been extracted. The model re…
Image og the Teacher in Schools Websites – Representative of the School
2015
Article consists of three parts - theoretical, empirical research and recommendations for improvement the school website photo galleries. Publication analyses ideas (Weber&Mitchell, Ķestere, Kaļķe, Fischer&Kiefer, Veide) that reveal importance of the teacher's image in the representation of the school, significance of the picture and selfpromotion in the school context. The empirical study consider teacher’s image in 17 Latvian school website photo galleries and surveys 102 primary school student’s parents to find out their views on the school website photo galleries impact on the selection of the school for their children. Analysis of the theoretical literature and interpre…
Combination of modal responses consistent with seismic input representation
2004
The well-known modal superposition method for the evaluation of seismic response by the complete quadratic modal combination rule (CQC) is revisited. The most widely used version of the CQC rule utilizes correlation coefficients derived for white-noise excitation and neglects the influence of peak factor variation on the response. Here a simplified procedure for evaluation of correlation coefficients and peak factors consistent with the power spectral density of seismic excitation is proposed. The procedure is based on an approximate analytic expression for direct evaluation of the power spectral density of the excitation consistent with any prefixed response spectrum, and the evaluation of…
Optimization of the contact surface shape of a shrinkage fit
1998
Amongst many processes existing today for the assembly of two cylindrical parts, the shrinkage fit is commonly used. However, in the calculation methods, the contact surfaces are assumed to be perfect. Therefore, in order to apply these, the standards necessitate very small geometrical tolerances. The objective of the present paper is to show that it is possible to take into account form defects by closely conformed contact modelling and to have a good representation of reality: form defects always exist to an increasing extent and are inherent in all kinds of manufacturing processes. Finally, it is shown that the presence of defects can be beneficial, allowing optimization from both a mech…
Unfolding Cyberspace: Cyberplaces of the Contrade and the Style of Representation in the Global Arena
2017
This chapter shows that, in the online representation of the contrade of Siena, the global level is not opposed to the local but is, instead, a particular way in which the local is represented. The method of placing their community on the global stage is that of an idealised inhabitation, one which also allows them to keep control over the formation of their collective identities. Furthermore, it shows that in the globalised world, the neighbourhoods of Siena encounter a global interest in their way of life which has made them alter their modes of self-representation . In order to position themselves in both local and global contexts, they have chosen to use the World Wide Web to present th…
A local linear black-box identification technique for power converters modeling
2009
In this paper, a black-box modeling technique for power electronic converters, also used in automotive environment is presented. The aim of this work is to provide a simple yet versatile and powerful tool to schematize complex electric devices in vehicular appliances, in order to fulfill the electromagnetic compatibility already during the project stage. By using input and output measured data, a composite local linear state space model is built up. Radial basis functions are used as weights for the local systems. The proposed approach is validated and applied in modeling a DC/DC converter for DC motors, a pulse width modulation inverter and a controlled rectifier.
