AbstractStiffness is a fundamental property of living tissues, which may be modified by pathologies or traumatic events but also by nutritional, pharmacological and exercise interventions. This review aimed to understand if specific forms of exercise are able to determine specific forms of tissue stiffness adaptations. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a challenging bacterium to treat due to its intrinsic resistance to the antibiotics used most frequently in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Data about the global burden and risk factors associated with P. aeruginosa-CAP are limited. We assessed the multinational burden and specific risk factors associated with P. aeruginosa-CAP. We enrolled 3193 patients in 54 countries with confirmed diagnosis of CAP who underwent microbiological testing at admission. Abstract Recent evidence indicates that inherent presence of multixenobiotic resistance (MXR) mechanism represents a general biological defence mechanism for protection of organisms against both endogenous and environmental toxins. In aquatic organisms exposed to polluted waters, this P-170 glycoprotein pump also removes ‘new’ man-made toxic chemicals out of cells. Extracting parameters from semi-log plots of polycrystalline silicon PV modules outdoor I–V data: Double-exponential model revisited

This paper presents a method for extracting physically meaningful parameters from measured I–V curves of PV modules. The 7-parameter double-exponential model is applied in the modeling. The method is based on linear fitting of semi-logarithmic plots. The paper demonstrates a new technique to estimate the series resistance of a module with high accuracy from such plots. As a result, also the reverse saturation current and the quality factor of the diffusion diode can be determined. Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer (HAS) molecules have been covalently linked on the outer surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and the so-obtained multi-functional fillers (HAS-f-CNTs) have been compounded with Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) to get composite films. The success of the grafting reaction of the HAS molecules has been confirmed through spectroscopic and thermo-gravimetric analyses. Morphological analyses reveal a segregated microstructure, in which CNT-rich channels surround the polymer domains. Relative efficiency revealed: Equations for k<inf>1</inf>–k<inf>6</inf> of the PVGIS model

The European PV Geographical Information System (PVGIS) describes module performance in terms of the relative efficiency with respect to Standard Testing Conditions (STC). The efficiency's dependence on irradiance and operating temperature is modeled with a bi-quadratic polynomial with respect to the relative temperature and the logarithm of relative irradiance. In earlier works, the present author derived relations between two model coefficients describing the irradiance dependence at 25°C, k 1 and k 2 , and I–V curve model parameters such as the series resistance RS and the ideality factor n. Analysis of negative-resistance oscillators with piecewise nonlinearity

An iterative method of solution of negative-resistance oscillators with piecewise-analytical characteristics is presented. The method allows the determination of the frequency and the harmonic content of the waveform as a function of the circuit parameters and bias of the nonlinear device. An application of the method, extended to the second order, for a polynomial characteristic limited by two straight lines is also reported. The results are compared with those obtained by numerical integration.

“Mitotic Slippage” and Extranuclear DNA in Cancer Chemoresistance: A Focus on Telomeres

Mitotic slippage (MS), the incomplete mitosis that results in a doubled genome in interphase, is a typical response of TP53-mutant tumors resistant to genotoxic therapy. These polyploidized cells display premature senescence and sort the damaged DNA into the cytoplasm. In this study, we explored MS in the MDA-MB-231 cell line treated with doxorubicin (DOX).
