Effect of different polishing techniques on surface roughness and bacterial adhesion of three glass ionomer-based restorative materials : in vitro st…

2020

Background Although many reports concluded that polishing of glass ionomers is crucial for smoother surface and limiting the adhesion of cariogenic bacteria, there is no specific surface treatment protocol recommended. A novel material in the same category was released recently claimed to have surface smoothness comparable to resin composite and bacterial adhesion less than other types of glass ionomers. In this study, different polishing systems were tested with three glass ionomers one of them is the novel material to find the most appropriate polishing protocol. Objectives: To evaluate and compare the surface roughness and bacterial adhesion to resin modified glass ionomer, bioactive ion…

Effect of pre-heating on the mechanical properties of silorane-based and methacrylate-based composites

2016

Background The use of composites in dental restoration has been commonly criticized, due to their underwhelming mechanical properties. This problem may be solved partially by preheating. The present research aims to determine the effect of preheating on the mechanical properties of two different classes of composites. Material and methods A Silorane-based (Silorane) and a Methacrylate-based (Z250) composite were preheated to different temperatures (25, 37, and 68 °C) and afterwards were tested with the appropriate devices for each testing protocol. The material's flexural strength, elastic modulus, and Vickers microhardness were evaluated. Two-way ANOVA, and Tukey's post hoc were used to an…

Nonlinear vibrations and hysteresis of micromachined silicon resonators designed as frequency-out sensors

1987

Experimental observation of nonlinear vibrations and hysteresis of micromachined silicon resonators is reported. The experimental results are explained using a simple model in which the restoring force acting in the resonator contains a small cubic term. The effects will impose a limit to the maximum amplitude which can be excited while still maintaining reliability of these devices as frequency-out sensors.

A note on the Bregmanized Total Variation and dual forms

2009

This paper considers two approaches to perform image restoration while preserving the contrast. The first one is the Total Variation-based Bregman iterations while the second consists in the minimization of an energy that involves robust edge preserving regularization. We show that these two approaches can be derived form a common framework. This allows us to deduce new properties and to extend and generalize these two previous approaches.

Non Linear Image Restoration in Spatial Domain

2011

International audience; In the present work, a novel image restoration method from noisy data samples is presented. The restoration was per-formed by using some heuristic approach utilizing data samples and smoothness criteria in spatial domain. Unlike most existing techniques, this approach does not require prior modelling of either the image or noise statistics. The proposed method works in an interactive mode to find the best compromise between the data (mean square error) and the smoothing criteria. The method has been compared with the shrinkage approach, Wiener filter and Non Local Means algorithm as well. Experimental results showed that the proposed method gives better signal to noi…

Patch-Based Image Denoising Model for Mixed Gaussian Impulse Noise Using L1 Norm

2017

Image denoising is the classes of technique used to free the image form the noise. The noise in the image may be added during the observation process due to the improper setting of the camera lance, low-resolution camera, cheap, and low-quality sensors, etc. Noise in the image may also be added during the image restoration, image transmission through the transmission media. To obtain required information from image, image must be noise free, i.e., high-frequency details must be present in the image. There are number of applications where image denoising is needed such as remote location detection, computer vision, computer graphics, video surveillance, etc. In last two decades, numbers of m…

Evolving non-dominated solutions in multiobjective service restoration for automated distribution networks

2001

Abstract The problem here dealt with is that of Service Restoration (SR) in automated distribution networks. In such networks, configuration and compensation level as well as loads insertion status can be remotely controlled. The considered SR problem should be handled using Multiobjective Optimization, MO, techniques since its solution requires a compromise between different criteria. In the adopted formulation, these criteria are the supply of the highest number of loads and the minimum power losses. The Authors propose a new MO approach, the Non-dominated Sorting Fuzzy Evolution Strategy, NS_FES, which uses part of the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm, NSGA, proposed by K. Deb. Th…
