In-beam test results of the Super-FRS GEM-TPC detector prototype with relativistic uranium ion beam

As an essential part of the Super-FRS particle identification, the GEM-TPC detector in a twin field-cage configuration will provide position information at up to 1 MHz counting rate with a spatial resolution 95 %. This detector is designed to provide particle-beam tracking information of projectiles ranging from protons to uranium. The performance of the GEM-TPC detector in a single field-cage configuration and newly integrated AWAGS readout electronics with a differential output was studied at the FRS for the response to the uranium beam at 850 MeV/u with intensity up to 1000 ions/spill. Upper limits on the isotropic gravitational-wave background from Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo's third observing run

We report results of a search for an isotropic gravitational-wave background (GWB) using data from Advanced LIGO's and Advanced Virgo's third observing run (O3) combined with upper limits from the earlier O1 and O2 runs. Unlike in previous observing runs in the advanced detector era, we include Virgo in the search for the GWB. The results are consistent with uncorrelated noise, and therefore we place upper limits on the strength of the GWB. We find that the dimensionless energy density $\Omega_{\rm GW}\leq 5.8\times 10^{-9}$ at the 95% credible level for a flat (frequency-independent) GWB, using a prior which is uniform in the log of the strength of the GWB, with 99% of the sensitivity comi…

International audience; The demetalation of a precursor dyad, 3, built upon a zinc(II)-containing artificial special pair and free-base antenna, leads to a new dyad, 4, for singlet energy transfer composed of cofacial free-base porphyrins (acceptor), [Fb](2) bridged by a 1,4-C6H4 group to a free-base antenna (donor), [Fb]. This dyad exhibits the general structure [M](2)-C6H4-[Fb], where [M](2) = [Fh](2), and completes a series reported earlier, where [M](2) = [Mg](2) (2) and [Zn](2) (3). The latter dyads exhibit a bidirectional energy-transfer process at 298 K for 2 and at 77 K for 3. The purpose of this study was to i) examine reliability and construct validity of the pictorial scale of Perceived Movement Skill Competence (PMSC) aligned to the third version of the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-3) in a sample of Spanish children; and to ii) analyse the validity of the PMSC and children’s perceived motor competence (MC) according to gender.
