Designing fluorous domains. Synthesis of a series of pyridinium salts bearing a perfluoroalkylated azole moiety

2006

The synthesis of a series of N-methylpyridinium salts bearing a perfluoroalkylated 1,2,4-oxadiazole or 1,2,4-triazole moiety is reported. X-Ray structures of representative perfluoroalkyl-triazolylpyridine (15) and methyl- pyridinium iodide salt (5a) are reported. Their crystal packing clearly shows segregation between the aromatic and parallel double layer fluorinated regions.

Fluorinated Heterocyclic Compounds. A Photochemical Approach to a Synthesis of Polyfluoroaryl-1,2,4-triazoles.

2005

The reaction of some fluorinated 1,2,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of methylamine or propylamine has been investigated. The irradiation in methanol or acetonitrile leads with acceptable yields to the corresponding fluorinated 1- methyl- or 1-propyl-1,2,4-triazole.

Evidence of a flip-flop phenomenon in acamprosate pharmacokinetics: an in vivo study in rats.

2006

The pharmacokinetics of acamprosate were examined in the rat after oral and intravenous administration in order to detect the possible presence of a flip-flop phenomenon. Rats received 9.3 or 73.3 mg/kg of the drug as an intravenous bolus. The same doses were orally administered via gastric intubation. Plasma samples were taken from the jugular vein for determination of acamprosate concentration by liquid scintillation counting. The drug content was also quantified in urine and faeces. The acamprosate bioavailability was close to 20%, the amount recovered in the faeces being around 80% of the administered dose. The terminal slope of the oral plasma curve was significantly lower than that ob…

Photochemistry of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles. A DFT study on photoinduced competitive rearrangements of 3-amino- and 3-N-methylamino-5-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,4-ox…

2006

The photoinduced competitive rearrangements of 5-perfluoroalkyl-3-amino(N-alkylamino)-1,2,4-oxadia- zoles have been investigated by DFT calculations and UV-vis spectroscopy. The observed product selectivity depends on the number of hydrogen atoms present in the amino moiety and involves two or three possible routes: (i) ring contraction-ring expansion (RCRE), (ii) internal-cyclization isomerization (ICI), or (iii) C(3)-N(2) migration-nucleophilic attack-cyclization (MNAC). UV absorption and fluorescence spectra of the reactants, and vertical excitation energy values, calculated by time dependent DFT, support the involvement of a neutral singlet excited state in the photoexcitation process. …

Development of extracellular vesicle-based medicinal products: A position paper of the group “Extracellular Vesicle translatiOn to clinicaL perspecti…

2021

International audience; Extracellular vesicles (EV) are emergent therapeutic effectors that have reached clinical trial investigation. To translate EV-based therapeutic to clinic, the challenge is to demonstrate quality, safety, and efficacy, as required for any medicinal product. EV research translation into medicinal products is an exciting and challenging perspective. Recent papers, provide important guidance on regulatory aspects of pharmaceutical development, defining EVs for therapeutic applications and critical considerations for the development of potency tests. In addition, the ISEV Task Force on Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Use of EV-based Therapeutics as well as the Exosomes C…

Cracking the Code : The Impact of Orthographic Transparency and Morphological-Syllabic Complexity on Reading and Developmental Dyslexia

2019

Reading is an essential skill in modern societies, yet not all learners necessarily become proficient readers. Theoretical concepts (e.g., the orthographic depth hypothesis; the grain size theory) as well as empirical evidence suggest that certain orthographies are easier to learn than others. The present paper reviews the literature on orthographic transparency, morphological complexity, and syllabic complexity of alphabetic languages. These notions are elaborated to show that differences in reading acquisition reflect fundamental differences in the nature of the phonological recoding and reading strategies developing in response to the specific orthography to be learned. The present paper…

Modeling risk perception in ATIS context through Fuzzy Logic

2011

Abstract This research is aimed at investigating the effect of accuracy of ATIS (Advanced Traveller Information Systems) in terms of route choices and travellers concordance to informative system. A Stated Preference Experiment has been made by using a Travel Simulator developed at the Technische Universiteit of Delft (The Netherlands). During the experiment respondents have been asked to make repeated route choices in presence of ATIS. Two kinds of information have been tested: descriptive (respondents are provided with the estimated travel times on each route), and prescriptive (respondents are provided with the estimated shortest route). For each kind of information four levels of accura…
