2014
In the light of unpublished material this paper reconstructs the history of the deciphering of Gaius’ palimpsest of the Capitular Library of Verona (BCapVr, Cod. XV) by Friedrich Bluhme. It deals for the first time with other copies of Bluhme’s transcriptions preserved at the Bonn University Library (ULB, S 675f; ULB, S 1440) and with their relationship to the ones at the Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage (SBB-PK, Ms. lat. fol. 308, K. 2, Beil. 2, Fasz. 1).
Predicting breakthrough of vanadium in fixed-bed absorbent columns with complex groundwater chemistries: A multi-component granular ferric hydroxide−…
2020
Granular ferric hydroxide (GFH) is often used for fixed bed adsorbent (FBA) columns in groundwater purification units around the world to remove arsenate contaminations. Groundwater can contain also other toxic (e.g., antimonite and vanadate) and non-toxic oxo-anions (phosphate and silicic acid) that are known to affect FBA lifetimes. Therefore, understanding the breakthrough of toxic compounds intended for removal by FBA is essential to their design, and is important to predict accurately breakthrough curves (BTCs) for FBAs in waterworks to plan future operating costs. Rapid small-scale column tests (RSCCT) and pilot-scale FBA were used to simulate vanadate BTCs for complex groundwater che…

4p16.1-p15.31 duplication and 4p terminal deletion in a 3-years old Chinese girl: Array-CGH, genotype-phenotype and neurological characterization
2014
Abstract Background Microscopically chromosome rearrangements of the short arm of chromosome 4 include the two known clinical entities: partial trisomy 4p and deletions of the Wolf-Hirschhorn critical regions 1 and 2 (WHSCR-1 and WHSCR-2, respectively), which cause cranio-facial anomalies, congenital malformations and developmental delay/intellectual disability. Methods/results We report on clinical findings detected in a Chinese patient with a de novo 4p16.1-p15.32 duplication in association with a subtle 4p terminal deletion of 6 Mb in size. This unusual chromosome imbalance resulted in WHS classical phenotype, while clinical manifestations of 4p trisomy were practically absent. Conclusio…
Chromatin structure of the yeast SUC2 promoter in regulatory mutants
1992
We have previously suggested that two positioned nucleosomes are removed from the promoter of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae SUC2 gene upon derepression by glucose starvation. To gain further insight into the changes accompanying derepression at the chromatin level we have studied the chromatin structure of the SUC2 promoter in several mutants affecting SUC2 expression. The non-derepressible mutants snf1, snf2 and snf5 present a chromatin structure characteristic of the repressed state, irrespective of the presence or absence of glucose. The non-repressible mutants, mig1 and ssn6, as well as the double mutant snfs sn6 exhibit an opened chromatin structure even in the presence of glucose. Thes…

Transanal coloanal anastomosis for Hirschsprung's disease: comparison between endorectal and perirectal pull-through procedures.
2006
Multi-objective optimisations for a superscalar architecture with selective value prediction
2012
This work extends an earlier manual design space ex ploration of our developed Selective Load Value Pre diction based superscalar architecture to the L2 unified cache. A fter that we perform an automatic design space expl oration using a special developed software tool by varying several architectural parameters. Our goal is to find optim al configurations in terms of CPI (Cycles per Instruction) and energy consumption. By varying 19 architectural parameter s, as we proposed, the design space is over 2.5 millions of billions configurations which obviously means that only heuristic search can be considered. Therefore, we propose dif ferent methods of automatic design space exploratio n based…
