Uzņēmuma informācijas sistēmas izveide izmantojot atvērtā pirmkoda programmatūru.
2015
Kvalifikācijas darba “Uzņēmuma informācijas sistēmas izveide izmantojot atvērtā pirmkoda programmatūru” mērķis bija izveidot uzņēmuma SIA “Aerobs” informācijas sistēmu, kurā uzņēmuma darbinieki varētu droši glabāt datus, koplietot tos, bet galvenais - sistēmas izveidē jāizmanto atvērtā pirmkoda programmatūra. Darba gaitā informācijas sistēma tika izveidota izmantojot virtualizāciju, tajā tika iekļauti sekojoši atvērtā pirmkoda risinājumi – Endian, Samba, BackupPC, Zabbix. Mērķis bija izveidot informācijas sistēmu, ko gala lietotāji var lietot izmantojot operētājsistēmas, kuru lietošanai nepieciešams iegādāties licenci, piemēram Windows 7. Rezultātā tika izveidota informācijas sistēma atbils…
Multitasking in Driving as Optimal Adaptation Under Uncertainty
2021
Objective The objective was to better understand how people adapt multitasking behavior when circumstances in driving change and how safe versus unsafe behaviors emerge. Background Multitasking strategies in driving adapt to changes in the task environment, but the cognitive mechanisms of this adaptation are not well known. Missing is a unifying account to explain the joint contribution of task constraints, goals, cognitive capabilities, and beliefs about the driving environment. Method We model the driver’s decision to deploy visual attention as a stochastic sequential decision-making problem and propose hierarchical reinforcement learning as a computationally tractable solution to it. The…
BRCA1/2 variants of unknown significance in hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome: Looking for the hidden meaning
2021
Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome is caused by germline mutations in BRCA1/2 genes. These genes are very large and their mutations are heterogeneous and scattered throughout the coding sequence. In addition to the above-mentioned mutations, variants of uncertain/unknown significance (VUSs) have been identified in BRCA genes, which make more difficult the clinical management of the patient and risk assessment. In the last decades, several laboratories have developed different databases that contain more than 2000 variants for the two genes and integrated strategies which include multifactorial prediction models based on direct and indirect genetic evidence, to classify the VUSs a…

Deep learning and process understanding for data-driven Earth system science
2017
Machine learning approaches are increasingly used to extract patterns and insights from the ever-increasing stream of geospatial data, but current approaches may not be optimal when system behaviour is dominated by spatial or temporal context. Here, rather than amending classical machine learning, we argue that these contextual cues should be used as part of deep learning (an approach that is able to extract spatio-temporal features automatically) to gain further process understanding of Earth system science problems, improving the predictive ability of seasonal forecasting and modelling of long-range spatial connections across multiple timescales, for example. The next step will be a hybri…
Automatic program for peak detection and deconvolution of multi-overlapped chromatographic signals
2005
Several interlinked algorithms for peak deconvolution by non-linear regression are presented. These procedures, together with the peak detection methods outlined in Part I, have allowed the implementation of an automatic method able to process multi-overlapped signals, requiring little user interaction. A criterion based on the evaluation of the multivariate selectivity of the chromatographic signal is used to auto-select the most efficient deconvolution procedure for each chromatographic situation. In this way, non-optimal local solutions are avoided in cases of high overlap, and short computation times are obtained in situations of high resolution. A new algorithm, fitting both the origin…
Extropy: Complementary Dual of Entropy
2015
This article provides a completion to theories of information based on entropy, resolving a longstanding question in its axiomatization as proposed by Shannon and pursued by Jaynes. We show that Shannon's entropy function has a complementary dual function which we call "extropy." The entropy and the extropy of a binary distribution are identical. However, the measure bifurcates into a pair of distinct measures for any quantity that is not merely an event indicator. As with entropy, the maximum extropy distribution is also the uniform distribution, and both measures are invariant with respect to permutations of their mass functions. However, they behave quite differently in their assessments…
Bridging the gap between research and practice : using phenomenographic findings to develop training for career practitioners
2021
AbstractThis study contends that phenomenography offers both a useful research method and practical tools for developing education and training for career practitioners. After introducing the basic principles of phenomenography, the study reviews previous research on its potential in developing pedagogical practices. It explores how the phenomenographic findings were utilized to design an online skills training programme for career practitioners. The study finds that phenomenographic research serves three practical pedagogical purposes: (1) revealing how learners understand certain concepts or phenomena, (2) elucidating how these understandings differ; and (3) identifying critical aspects i…
Safety and efficacy outcomes after intranasal administration of neural stem cells in cerebral palsy : a randomized phase 1/2 controlled trial
2023
Abstract Background Neural stem cells (NSCs) are believed to have the most therapeutic potential for neurological disorders because they can differentiate into various neurons and glial cells. This research evaluated the safety and efficacy of intranasal administration of NSCs in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The functional brain network (FBN) analysis based on electroencephalogram (EEG) and voxel-based morphometry (VBM) analysis based on T1-weighted images were performed to evaluate functional and structural changes in the brain. Methods A total of 25 CP patients aged 3–12 years were randomly assigned to the treatment group (n = 15), which received an intranasal infusion of NSCs loade…
Dynamic analysis of prestressed cables with uncertain pretension
2002
This paper deals with finite element dynamic analysis of prestressed cables with uncertain pretension subjected to deterministic excitations. The theoretical model addressed for cable modeling is a two-dimensional finite-strain beam theory, which allows us to eliminate any restriction on the magnitude of displacements and rotations. The dynamic problem is formulated by referring the motion to the inertial frame, which leads to a simple uncoupled quadratic form for the kinetic energy. The effect of the externally applied stochastic pretension is approximately described by means of an uncertain 'axial' component of stress resultant, which is assumed constant along the cable in its dead load c…
