Radiation effects in nitride read-only memories

Abstract We report on the influence of different types of radiation on the nitride read-only memories (NROM®). The memory cells were irradiated by light ions (Boron), X-rays and γ-rays. Memory transistor parameters, such as threshold voltage and subthreshold drain leakage were studied as a function of the accumulated radiation dose and compared to the as-programmed (-erased) devices parameters. Their time evolution was registered in the range from few hours up to 5 months after the irradiation. The NROM® cells showed good radiation robustness up to high accumulated doses. Radiosynthesis of 3-indolyl[1-11C]acetic acid for phyto-PET-imaging: An improved production procedure and formulation method

Abstract An improved production procedure and formulation method for the carbon-11 radiolabeled phytohormone, 3-indolyl-[l- 11 C]acetic acid ([ 11 C]IAA), was developed by modifying selected original reaction parameters. This updated procedure both doubled the yield (from 25.9±6.7% ( n =12) to 61.0±0.3% ( n =10)) and increased the concentration (0.2–0.4 GBq/0.15–0.3 mL), enabling us to provide the radiotracer [ 11 C]IAA suitable for in vivo phyto-PET-imaging studies. The specific activity was improved by more than a factor of three (26.7±5.6 GBq/µmol to 82.5±36.1 GBq/µmol). The total synthesis time for both production and formulation was 81.8±3.0 min ( n =10). A novel radiation exposure control apparatus for microwave assisted chemical reactions

AbstractA radiation exposure control apparatus is used for microwave (2.45 GHz) treatment of chemical reactions in controlled and reproducible conditions. A spectrophotometer has been interfaced with the microwave set-up in order to monitor the reaction evolution in situ. Both numerical and experimental dosimetries are carried out in order to evaluate the field distribution within the sample. Finally, particular working conditions are suggested.
Validation of daily global solar irradiation images from MSG over Spain

Abstract Daily irradiation images over Spain – area that embraces a highly heterogeneous landscape, climatic conditions and relief – are calculated from the down-welling surface short-wave radiation flux (DSSF) product derived from the MSG SEVIRI images. Their analysis and validation is carried out using two different station networks along the year 2008. The first network covers the peninsular Spain and Balearic islands. A denser one, covering the Catalonian territory and including many stations located in rugged terrain, is found useful to assess the elevation correction to be applied to the images. Design and test of a prototype silicon detector module for ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker endcaps

The ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) will be a central part of the tracking system of the ATLAS experiment. The SCT consists of four concentric barrels of silicon detectors as well as two silicon endcap detectors formed by nine disks each. The layout of the forward silicon detector module presented in this paper is based on the approved layout of the silicon detectors of the SCT, their geometry and arrangement in disks, but uses otherwise components identical to the barrel modules of the SCT. On a radiating fluid in a general relativistic context

A model for the radiation hydrodynamics in general relativity is analyzed, describing the gravitational collapse and supernovae explosion. As these physical phenomena can be assumed spherically symmetric, the equations of motion for a unique fluid, representing the interaction between matter and radiation, are written in a spherical symmetric space-time with respect to a comoving frame. The system is completed by using the Eddington closure, assuming a local thermodynamical equilibrium for the radiation field. A VLBI study of the wind-wind collision region in the massive multiple HD 167971

Context. Colliding winds in massive binaries are able to accelerate particles up to relativistic speeds as the result of the interaction between the winds of the different stellar components. HD 167971 exhibits this phenomenon which makes it a strong radio source. Aims. We aim at characterizing the morphology of the radio emission and its dependence on the orbital motion, traced independently by near-infrared (NIR) interferometry of both the spectroscopic binary and the tertiary component comprising HD 167971. Gamma radiation induced polymerization of vinyl monomers in dense CO2

Abstract The dispersion polymerization of methyl methacrylate in dense carbon dioxide, initiated by γ-rays, utilizing different polysiloxanes as polymeric stabilizers, was investigated. The progress of the reaction, as a function of the irradiation dose, was also studied and the occurrence of a gel effect has been detected. For comparison, the dispersion polymerization has been carried out in supercritical conditions ( T =65°C and 38 MPa) in the presence of 2,2′-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as initiator.
