Isobaric Vapor−Liquid Equilibria for the Binary System 3-Methylpentane + 2-Methyl-2-propanol and for the Ternary System Methyl 1,1-Dimethylethyl Ethe…
1999
Isobaric vapor−liquid equilibria data were obtained for the 3-methylpentane + 2-methyl-2-propanol binary system and methyl 1,1-dimethylethyl ether + 3-methylpentane + 2-methyl-2-propanol ternary system at 101.3 kPa in a temperature range from 329 to 356 K. The data were found to be thermodynamically consistent according to the Van Ness−Byer−Gibbs method for the binary system and according to the McDermott−Ellis method for the ternary one. The binary system shows a minimum boiling azeotrope that boils at 333.4 K and contains 82.6 mol % of 3-methylpentane. The binary interaction parameters obtained from this work and literature data are used to predict the vapor−liquid equilibrium for the ter…
Implant loss and crestal bone loss in early loading versus delayed and immediate loading in edentulous mandibles. A systematic review and meta-analys…
2021
Background Information about the risk of early loss and crestal bone loss of dental implants which have been loaded early is scant if compared with data available for those conventionally or immediately loaded. A meta-analysis of early loss and crestal bone loss in immediate or delayed loaded full mandibular denture retaining dental implants has been recently published. It is interesting to evaluate also the risks of early versus immediate and delayed loading in complete mandibular restorations. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to study early (EL) versus immediate (IL) and delayed loading (DL) protocols in edentulous mandibles to determine whether differences exis…
Aggregation Kinetics of Bovine Serum Albumin Studied by FTIR Spectroscopy and Light Scattering
2003
To investigate which type of structural and conformational changes is involved in the aggregation processes of bovine serum albumin (BSA), we have performed thermal aggregation kinetics in D(2)O solutions of this protein. The tertiary conformational changes are followed by Amide II band, the secondary structural changes and the formation of beta-aggregates by the Amide I' band and, finally, the hydrodynamic radius of aggregates by dynamic light scattering. The results show, as a function of pD, that: tertiary conformational changes are more rapid as pD increases; the aggregation proceeds through formation of ordered aggregates (oligomers) at pD far from the isoelectric point of the protein;…

Active aging has been established as a policy goal for aging societies. We define active aging at the individual level as striving for elements of well-being through activities in relation to a person’s goals, functional capacities and opportunities. Increasing evidence suggests that any meaningful activity is beneficial for different aspects of well-being in older people. The aim of the present randomized controlled trial is to test the feasibility and effectiveness of a one-year community-based intervention on active aging. The AGNES intervention aims at increasing older peoples’ participation in self-selected valued activities. The proposed study is a two-arm single-blinded randomized co…
Opinion of the Patients About an Internet-Based Psychological Treatment Protocol
2015
Emotional disorders (depression and anxiety disorders) are highly prevalent. Currently, there is evidence showing the efficacy of disorder-specific cognitive-behavior therapy for emotional disorders. However, high comorbidity rates among emotional disorders have led some researchers to shift the focus to treatment strategies that might be more widely effective across these diverse conditions (transdiagnostic approach). Another important line of research in the literature is Internet-based psychotherapy. An increasing number of meta-analyses have shown the efficacy and effectiveness of Internet-based cognitive-behavior treatment protocols for emotional disorders. Nevetherless, little is know…
Research protocol: Technology-supported guidance to increase flexibility, quality and efficiency in the clinical practicum of nursing education
2020
Abstract This paper presents the protocol for a randomized controlled trial aimed at studying the effects of a technology-supported guidance model delivered by smartphone and intended to strengthen the follow-up of nursing students during their clinical practicum. The research outcomes will reflect students’ critical thinking, learning outcomes, and satisfaction. The results will be compared before and after the intervention and between control and intervention groups. In the control group, the clinical practicum period will be performed as usual. In the intervention group, students will monitor their day by filling in daily electronic reports. Based on students’ reports and the day’s exper…

On the collision property of chaotic iterations based post-treatments over cryptographic pseudorandom number generators
2018
International audience; There is not a proper mathematical definition of chaos, we have instead a quite big amount of definitions, each of one describes chaos in a more or less general context. Taking in account this, it is clear why it is hard to design an algorithm that produce random numbers, a kind of algorithm that could have plenty of concrete appliceautifat (anul)d bions. However we must use a finite state machine (e.g. a laptop) to produce such a sequence of random numbers, thus it is convenient, for obvious reasons, to redefine those aimed sequences as pseudorandom; also problems arise with floating point arithmetic if one wants to recover some real chaotic property (i.e. propertie…
Domain Generation Algorithm Detection Using Machine Learning Methods
2018
A botnet is a network of private computers infected with malicious software and controlled as a group without the knowledge of the owners. Botnets are used by cybercriminals for various malicious activities, such as stealing sensitive data, sending spam, launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, etc. A Command and Control (C&C) server sends commands to the compromised hosts to execute those malicious activities. In order to avoid detection, recent botnets such as Conficker, Zeus, and Cryptolocker apply a technique called Domain-Fluxing or Domain Name Generation Algorithms (DGA), in which the infected bot periodically generates and tries to resolve a large number of pseudorando…
