Stochastic NMR imaging is one of the less common NMR imaging techniques. Nevertheless, stochastic rf excitation is characterized by some remarkable features: the rf excitation power is at least two orders of magnitude lower in comparison to conventionally pulsed NMR imaging schemes. Thus, the technique is of interest for imaging of large objects. The systematic noise inherent in images obtained with random noise excitation has been eliminated by using pseudorandom noise together with Hadamard transformation for data evaluation. Adaptive sparse representation of continuous input for tsetlin machines based on stochastic searching on the line

This paper introduces a novel approach to representing continuous inputs in Tsetlin Machines (TMs). Instead of using one Tsetlin Automaton (TA) for every unique threshold found when Booleanizing continuous input, we employ two Stochastic Searching on the Line (SSL) automata to learn discriminative lower and upper bounds. The two resulting Boolean features are adapted to the rest of the clause by equipping each clause with its own team of SSLs, which update the bounds during the learning process. [EN] This paper is devoted to study random linear control systems where the initial condition, the final target, and the elements of matrices defining the coefficients are random variables, while the control is a stochastic process. The so-called Random Variable Transformation technique is adapted to obtain closed-form expressions of the probability density functions of the solution and of the control. The theoretical findings are applied to study the dynamics of a damped oscillator subject to parametric noise.

Random attractors for stochastic lattice systems with non-Lipschitz non-linearity

In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of a first-order stochastic lattice dynamical system with an additive noise. We do not assume any Lipschitz condition on the nonlinear term, just a continuity assumption together with growth and dissipative conditions, so that uniqueness of the Cauchy problem fails to be true. Using the theory of multi-valued random dynamical systems we prove the existence of a random compact global attractor.

A subtle error in conventional stochastic linearization techniques

Abstract The stochastic linearization technique as applied to the SDOF system is re-examined. Two standard procedures associated with the stochastic linearization, widely adopted in the literature, are shown to be erroneous. Two new procedures to correct the errors made in previous works are introduced. To gain more insight, the procedures are applied to the quintic oscillator. Comparative numerical analysis is performed.

Spatio-temporal behaviour of the deep chlorophyll maximum in Mediterranean Sea: Development of a stochastic model for picophytoplankton dynamics

In this paper, by using a stochastic reaction-diffusion-taxis model, we analyze the picophytoplankton dynamics in the basin of the Mediterranean Sea, characterized by poorly mixed waters. The model includes intraspecific competition of picophytoplankton for light and nutrients. The multiplicative noise sources present in the model account for random fluctuations of environmental variables. Phytoplankton distributions obtained from the model show a good agreement with experimental data sampled in two different sites of the Sicily Channel. A non-homogeneous Poisson based model for daily rainfall data

In this paper we report some results of the application of a new stochastic model applied to rainfall daily data. The Poisson models, characterized only by the expected rate of events (impulse occurrences, that is the mean number of impulses per unit time) and the assigned probability distribution of the phenomenon magnitude, do not take into consideration the datum regarding the duration of the occurrences, that is fundamental from a hydrological point of view. We present results of a Monte Carlo simulation of the kinetics of ordering in the two-dimensional nearest-neighbor Ising model in anL xM geometry with two free boundaries of length M≫L. This model can be viewed as representing an adsorbant on a stepped surface with mean terrace widthL. A simplified analysis for the evaluation of stochastic response of elasto-plastic oscillators

Abstract The paper deals with dynamic hysteretic oscillators without post-yielding hardening, called ideal elasto-plastic oscillators, subjected to white noise. They are characterized by the fact that they do not reach stationarity even though excited by stationary stochastic processes.
