External validation of a prognostic model estimating the survival of patients with recurrent high-grade gliomas after reirradiation

PURPOSE: We aimed to validate a controversial prognostic model for the survival of relapsed malignant glioma patients after reirradiation with an independent, multicentric patient cohort.METHODS AND MATERIALS: A total of 165 malignant glioma patients underwent reirradiation at 4 different institutions between 1994 and 2012. Twenty-two patients had a good (score 1), 44 had a moderate (score 2), and 99 had a poor prognosis (score 3 or 4). Salvage Re-irradiation Options in Adult Medulloblastoma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Background/aim Medulloblastoma is a rare tumor of adult age, while it occurs more frequently in children. Given the rarity, there is a lack of evidence for the treatment of recurrent disease. Few data are available about salvage re-irradiation collecting very heterogeneous series. Case report A 51-year-old male presented with headache, nausea, double vision, and gait disorders. Re-irradiation With Carbon Ion Radiotherapy for Pelvic Rectal Cancer Recurrences in Patients Previously Irradiated to the Pelvis

Background/Aim: Re-irradiation of locally recurrent rectal cancer poses challenges due to the proximity of critical organs, such as the bowel. This study aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of re-irradiation with Carbon Ion Radiotherapy (CIRT) in rectal cancer patients with local recurrence. Patients and Methods: Between 2014 and 2018, 14 patients were treated at the National Center of Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO Foundation) with CIRT for locally recurrent rectal cancer. Paget's disease of scrotum and penis case report of a re-irradiation and review of the literature.

Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is a rare cutaneous adenocarcinoma generally arising in the anogenital region. Surgery is still considered the treatment of choice for patients with EMPD, while Radiotherapy is a common alternative for inoperable cases and it's necessary in case of lack of surgical radicality. In this article, we described our experience and a review of the literature, with a particular focus on radiation-induced toxicity and on the feasibility of re-irradiation. Available evidence on re-irradiation with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy following high-dose previous thoracic radiotherapy for lung malignancies

Patients affected with intra-thoracic recurrences of primary or secondary lung malignancies after a first course of definitive radiotherapy have limited therapeutic options, and they are often treated with a palliative intent. Re-irradiation with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) represents an appealing approach, due to the optimized dose distribution that allows for high-dose delivery with better sparing of organs at risk.
