Ultrafast excitation dynamics of low energy pigments in reconstituted peripheral light-harvesting complexes of photosystem I

AbstractUltrafast dynamics of a reconstituted Lhca4 subunit from the peripheral LHCI-730 antenna of photosystem I of higher plants were probed by femtosecond absorption spectroscopy at 77 K. Intramonomeric energy transfer from chlorophyll (Chl) b to Chl a and energy equilibration between Chl a molecules observed on the subpicosecond time scale are largely similar to subpicosecond energy equilibration processes within LHCII monomers. However, a 5 ps equilibration process in Lhca4 involves unique low energy Chls in LHCI absorbing at 705 nm. Photocatalytic degradation of acid blue 80 in aqueous solutions containing TiO2 suspensions.

The photocatalytic degradation of the anthraquinonic dye Acid Blue 80 in aqueous solutions containing TiO2 dispersions has been investigated. The process has been monitored by following either the disappearance of the dye (via HPLC) and the formation of its end-products (via IC, GC, and TOC analysis). Although a relatively fast decolorization of the solutions has been observed, the mineralization is slower, and the presence of residual organic compounds was evidenced even after long term irradiation, confirming the relevant stability of anthraquinone derivatives. Modelling of combined ICRF and NBI heating in JET hybrid plasmas

During the 2015-2016 JET campaigns many efforts have been devoted to the exploration of high performance plasma scenarios envisaged for ITER operation. In this paper we model the combined ICRF+NBI heating in selected key hybrid discharges using PION. The antenna frequency was tuned to match the cyclotron frequency of minority hydrogen (H) at the center of the tokamak coinciding with the second harmonic cyclotron resonance of deuterium. The modelling takes into account the synergy between ICRF and NBI heating through the second harmonic cyclotron resonance of deuterium beam ions which allows us to assess its impact on the neutron rate RNT. The Role of Combined ICRF and NBI Heating in JET Hybrid Plasmas in Quest for High D-T Fusion Yield

Combined ICRF and NBI heating played a key role in achieving the world-record fusion yield in the first deuterium-tritium campaign at the JET tokamak in 1997. The current plans for JET include new experiments with deuterium-tritium (D-T) plasmas with more ITER-like conditions given the recently installed ITER-like wall (ILW). A redox-sensitive nanofluidic diode based on nicotinamide-modified asymmetric nanopores

[EN] We demonstrate a redox-sensitive nanofluidic diode whose ion rectification is modulated by the oxidation and reduction of chemical moieties incorporated on its surface. To achieve this goal, we have first synthesized the chemical compounds 1-(4-aminobutyl)-3-carbamoylpyridin-1-ium (Nic-BuNH2) and 3-carbamoyl-1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)pyridinium (Nic-DNP). Synthetic and theoretical studies of novel ring closure and ring opening reactions

Ring closure and ring opening reactions are in many cases useful synthetic procedures in organic chemistry. They allow the preparation of complex molecules with high stereoselectivity and good yields. Mechanistic and theoretical studies have been carried out on the transformation of 2-aminopyrimidines into imidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidines and guanidines, respectively, through ring closure and ring opening reactions, as well as the transamidation reactions through the ring closure and ring opening of guanidine derivatives, which constitute novel synthetic methods. AbstractThe human neuronal nitric oxide synthase (NOS1) gene is subject to extensive splicing. A total of 12 NOS1 mRNA species have been identified. They differ in their 5′ ends and are derived from 12 different first exons (termed exons 1a to 1l). Various cell lines whose NOS1 first exon expression patterns were representative of human brain, skin, and skeletal muscle were identified. These included A673 neuroepithelioma cells, SK-N-MC neuroblastoma cells, HaCaT keratinocyte-like cells, and C2C12 myocyte-like cells.
