Highly Enantioselective Friedel−Crafts Alkylations of Indoles with Simple Enones Catalyzed by Zirconium(IV)−BINOL Complexes
2007
Complexes of BINOL-based ligands with Zr(OtBu)4 catalyze the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of indoles and pyrrole with nonchelating beta-substituted alpha,beta-enones at room temperature affording the expected products with good yields and ee above 95% in most of the studied examples.
Heterogeneous zirconocene catalyst on magnesium support MgCl2(THF)2 modified by AlEt2Cl for ethylene polymerisation
2005
Abstract The heterogeneous bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium(IV) dichloride catalyst of the composition MgCl2(THF)/(AlEt2Cl)0.34/(Cp2ZrCl2)0.01 as determined by FTIR, XRD, and AAS analyses was synthesised and, after activation by MAO, applied for ethylene polymerisation. The catalyst turned out to be stable and more active than those magnesium supported catalysts already known from the literature. The polyethylene produced has a relatively high molecular weight (Mw > 200,000 g/mol), a narrow and monomodal molecular weight distribution (MWD = 2.4), a bulk density of about 180 g/dm3, and monomodal particle size distribution. Application of a ternary Al(i-Bu)3/MAO/B(C6F5)3 activator decreased the…

2010
Chiral complexes of BINOL-based ligands with zirconium tert-butoxide catalyze the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of indoles with beta-trifluoromethyl-alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones to give functionalized indoles with an asymmetric tertiary carbon center attached to a trifluoromethyl group. The reaction can be applied to a large number of substituted alpha-trifluoromethyl enones and substituted indoles. The expected products were obtained with good yields and ees of up to 99%.
Application of an inexpensive and high-throughput genomic DNA extraction method for the molecular ecology of zooplanktonic diapausing eggs
2008
We describe the application of a simple, low-cost, and effective method of DNA extraction (hot sodium hydroxide and Tris, HotSHOT) to the diapausing propagules of continental aquatic invertebrates for its use in PCR amplification. We illustrate the use of the technique in cladocerans, rotifers, anostracans, notostracans, and copepod diapausing eggs. We compare the performance of the HotSHOT technique to the currently most widely used method for DNA extraction of zooplankton eggs and individuals, the chelating resin (or Chelex) technique. The HotSHOT technique overcomes several of the problems posed by Chelex and permits easy optimization for its use with 96-well plates for high-throughput D…
Reaction-Diffusion Network For Geometric Multiscale High Speed Image Processing
2010
International audience; In the framework of heavy mid-level processing for high speed imaging, a nonlinear bi-dimensional network is proposed, allowing the implementation of active curve algorithms. Usually this efficient type of algorithm is prohibitive for real-time image processing due to its calculus charge and the inadequate structure for the use of serial or parallel architectures. Another kind of implementation philosophy is proposed here, by considering the active curve generated by a propagation phenomenon inspired from biological modeling. A programmable nonlinear reaction-diffusion system is proposed under front control and technological constraints. Geometric multiscale processin…

Investigation of the SHS mechanisms of titanium nitride by in situ time-resolved diffraction and infrared thermography
2007
Abstract The self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) or combustion synthesis is a promising process to produce advanced ceramics due to the high purity of the elaborated materials and the very short synthesis time. Titanium nitride has been synthesised from pressed titanium powder and a nitrogen gas flow under a 0.1 MPa pressure. The influence of the addition of a TiN diluent was investigated. For the first time, SHS reaction mechanisms were determined from in situ time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TRXRD) experiments using the synchrotron radiation. These experiments were coupled with infrared thermography to study the propagation of the combustion reaction. It appeared that the in…
