Maximal ℓ p ‐regularity of multiterm fractional equations with delay

2020

[EN] We provide a characterization for the existence and uniqueness of solutions in the space of vector-valued sequences l(p) (Z, X)for the multiterm fractional delayed model in the form Delta(alpha)u(n) + lambda Delta(beta)u(n) = Lambda u(n) + u(n-tau) + f(n), n is an element of Z, alpha, beta is an element of R+, tau is an element of Z, lambda is an element of R, where X is a Banach space, A is a closed linear operator with domain D(A) defined on X, f is an element of l(p)(Z,X) and Delta(Gamma) denotes the Grunwald-Letkinov fractional derivative of order Gamma > 0. We also give some conditions to ensure the existence of solutions when adding nonlinearities. Finally, we illustrate our resu…

Upper bounds for the tightness of the $$G_\delta $$-topology

2021

We prove that if X is a regular space with no uncountable free sequences, then the tightness of its $$G_\delta $$ topology is at most the continuum and if X is, in addition, assumed to be Lindelof then its $$G_\delta $$ topology contains no free sequences of length larger then the continuum. We also show that, surprisingly, the higher cardinal generalization of our theorem does not hold, by constructing a regular space with no free sequences of length larger than $$\omega _1$$ , but whose $$G_\delta $$ topology can have arbitrarily large tightness.

Denoising 3D Models with Attributes using Soft Thresholding

2004

International audience; Recent advances in scanning and acquisition technologies allow the construction of complex models from real world scenes. However, the data of those models are generally corrupted by measurement errors. This paper describes an efficient single pass algorithm for denoising irregular meshes of scanned 3D model surfaces. In this algorithm, the frequency content of the model is assessed by a multiresolution analysis that requires only 1-ring neighbourhood without any particular parameterization of the model faces. Denoising is achieved by applying the soft thresholding method to the detail coefficients given by the multiresolution analysis. Our method is suitable for irr…

Extremal solutions and strong relaxation for nonlinear multivalued systems with maximal monotone terms

2018

Abstract We consider differential systems in R N driven by a nonlinear nonhomogeneous second order differential operator, a maximal monotone term and a multivalued perturbation F ( t , u , u ′ ) . For periodic systems we prove the existence of extremal trajectories, that is solutions of the system in which F ( t , u , u ′ ) is replaced by ext F ( t , u , u ′ ) (= the extreme points of F ( t , u , u ′ ) ). For Dirichlet systems we show that the extremal trajectories approximate the solutions of the “convex” problem in the C 1 ( T , R N ) -norm (strong relaxation).

Focal plane array infrared camera transfer function calculation and image restoration

2004

Infrared images often present distortions induced by the measurement system. Image processing is thus an essential part of infrared measurements. A distortion model based on a convolution product is presented. The analytical form of the convolution kernel has been obtained from an image formation theory, along with an analysis of the sampling of the focal plane array camera detector's matrix. Image restoration is an ill-posed problem, and its solution can be obtained using regularization methods. In this work, image restoration is performed using a variation of Tikhonov regularization that makes use of the particular form of the convolution kernel matrix, which is built as a block-circulant…

(p, 2)-Equations with a Crossing Nonlinearity and Concave Terms

2018

We consider a parametric Dirichlet problem driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian ($$p>2$$) and a Laplacian (a (p, 2)-equation). The reaction consists of an asymmetric $$(p-1)$$-linear term which is resonant as $$x \rightarrow - \infty $$, plus a concave term. However, in this case the concave term enters with a negative sign. Using variational tools together with suitable truncation techniques and Morse theory (critical groups), we show that when the parameter is small the problem has at least three nontrivial smooth solutions.

Positive solutions for singular (p, 2)-equations

2019

We consider a nonlinear nonparametric Dirichlet problem driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian and of a Laplacian (a (p, 2)-equation) and a reaction which involves a singular term and a $$(p-1)$$ -superlinear perturbation. Using variational tools and suitable truncation and comparison techniques, we show that the problem has two positive smooth solutions.
