Reliable numerical solution of a class of nonlinear elliptic problems generated by the Poisson-Boltzmann equation

We consider a class of nonlinear elliptic problems associated with models in biophysics, which are described by the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE). We prove mathematical correctness of the problem, study a suitable class of approximations, and deduce guaranteed and fully computable bounds of approximation errors. This research is concerned with the implicit learning of regularities in continuous motor tasks (e.g., tracking tasks) and discrete tasks (e.g., Serial Reaction Time tasks). First, a reanalysis of Wulf and collaborator's studies, dealing with implicit motor learning, made it possible to highlight methodological problems and potential biases that provide alternative explanations for the apparent implicit learning obtained in their continuous tracking experiments. Activity of bacteria strains originaited from sewage sludge against some soil fungi

Abstract The potential biological activity of three bacterial strains against the four phytopathogens was examined. The bacterial strains were originated from sewage sludge water extract and from the humic acid solution obtained from the sewage sludge. The fresh bacteria cultures and filtered culture broth were used. The noncoated sugar beet seeds were coated by soaking for 15 min in the liquid culture of bacteria, then they were sown in the sterilized soil inoculated by one of the following types of soil fungus: Aphanomyces cochlioides L3, Phoma betas PH8, Pythium irregulare PIR4, Rhizoctonia solani Z10-2. According to cross-sectional and interventional studies, high-intensity strength and impact-type training provide a powerful osteogenic stimulus even in old age. Longitudinal evidence on the ability of high-intensity training to attenuate age-related bone deterioration is currently lacking, however. Overland flow generation on hillslopes of complex topography: analytical Solutions

The analytical solution of the overland flow equations developed by Agnese et al. (2001; Hydrological Processes15: 3225–3238) for rectangular straight hillslopes was extended to convergent and divergent surfaces and to concave and convex profiles. Towards this aim, the conical convergent and divergent surfaces are approximated by a trapezoidal shape, and the overland flow is assumed to be always one-dimensional.
