Internationalization pathways of family SMEs:Psychic distance as a focal point

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate how psychic distance affects the internationalization process, foreign market entry (FME), and entry mode choice of Finnish small and medium-sized family enterprises (family SMEs) operating in France. Design/methodology/approach: The paper reports findings from an in-depth case study covering four Finnish manufacturing family SMEs operating in the French market. The data were analyzed using the Uppsala model and distance creating and distance-bridging factors encountered in the FME to France. Vuonna 2020 Suomessa käynnistettiin uudenlaisen pohjan luominen kielen oppimisen jatkumolle, kun ensimmäisen vieraan tai toisen kotimaisen kielen aloitus varhennettiin ensimmäiselle vuosiluokalle. Tutkimus on osoittanut, että opettajien ja oppilaiden käsityksillä on keskeinen rooli oppimis- ja opetuskäytänteiden muotoutumisessa ja siksi on tärkeää tutkia käsityksiä uudessa tilanteessa.  Asenteilla ja suhtautumisella on suuria vaikutuksia kielenoppimiseen, niin motivaation kuin yleisen innostuksenkin kannalta. Kieliasenteita on tutkittu paljon etenkin motivaation piirissä ja asenteiden vertailua on tehty esimerkiksi eri sukupuolten ja ikäryhmien välillä. On kuitenkin monia tekijöitä, joiden yhteydestä kieliasenteisiin ei ole paljon tietoa. Kieliopin opettaminen on aina ollut iso osa kielten opetusta ja nykyäänkin kielioppi nähdään osana laajempaa kommunikatiivista kompetenssia. Näkemyksiä siitä, kuinka kielioppia tulisi opettaa on runsaasti, mutta nykyään suositellaan perinteisempien suuntausten sijaan kommunikatiivisempaa ja toiminallisempaa oppimista. Kieltenopettajat kuitenkin usein tukeutuvat oppikirjoihin jolloin ne vaikuttavat oppilaiden kielen kehitykseen ja niiden sisältöä myös kieliopin osalta olisi hyvä tarkastella. Foreign Direct Investments and the Rule of Law in Africa in the context of legal integration

This essay focuses on the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and the rule of law in the context of legal integration in Africa, outside of the AfCFTA agreement. Specifically, the essay investigates the concept of the rule of law, taking into account its ‘dynamic’ side, that is the power to shape and model the structure of a state using the example of OHADA. The OHADA framework shows that the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and the rule of law is not unilateral but a ‘two-way mutual’ relationship where both actors contribute to the success of the system, adapting to each other in order to achieve their respective goals.
