Determining the Number of Factors to Retain in EFA: An easy-to-use computer program for carrying out Parallel Analysis

Parallel Analysis is a Monte Carlo simulation technique that aids researchers in determining the number of factors to retain in Principal Component and Exploratory Factor Analysis. This method provides a superior alternative to other techniques that are commonly used for the same purpose, such as the Scree test or the Kaiser's eigenvalue-greater-than-one rule. Nevertheless, Parallel Analysis is not well known among researchers, in part because it is not included as an analysis option in the most popular statistical packages. El presente artículo estudia los métodos de iniciación a la viola más utilizados entre el profesorado de las Enseñanzas Elementales de la provincia de Valencia. Participan en el estudio 26 profesores de 21 conservatorios públicos. El instrumento de recogida de la información ha sido el cuestionario diseñado según criterios basados en la sencillez, precisión y concreción de los 32 ítems que lo componen y la discreción y preservación del anonimato en el manejo de la información recabada. Meta-action research with pre-service teachers: a case study

This article analyses a case of action research collaboratively conducted by a university teacher and 50 students in a master's course in teacher training. Its originality resides in the socio-economic, academic, and conceptual nature of the obstacles encountered in the module; in the meta-theoretical orientation of the action research that was chosen to overcome them; and in how triangulation strategies were devised to compensate for the limitations imposed by the academic framing of the course. Applying phenomenography in guidance and counselling research

This paper examines phenomenography as a viable qualitative approach in guidance and counselling research. A phenomenographic study maps the qualitatively different ways in which people experience a specific phenomenon and helps researchers to describe the aspects that make one way of experiencing a certain phenomenon qualitatively distinct from another. This paper presents an overview of phenomenographic research, encompassing theoretical, methodological and practical considerations.
