Science based calibration for the extraction of 'analyte-specific' HPLC-DAD chromatograms in environmental analysis

2010

Multivariate science based calibration (SBC) has been applied to the resolution of overlapped peaks in liquid chromatography with diode array detection (LC-DAD). Complex river water samples spiked with 11 pharmaceutical substances resulted in poorly resolved chromatograms containing additional peaks from interfering matrix compounds and a change in the background absorbance due to the mobile phase gradient. Applying the present multivariate approach it was possible to resolve all 11 analytes from overlapping peaks, obtaining linear calibration lines (R2 > 0.96). Recovery percentages on spiked samples ranged between 74.6 and 113.5%, which are quite satisfactory taking into account the low co…

Comparison between micellar liquid chromatography and capillary zone electrophoresis for the determination of hydrophobic basic drugs in pharmaceutic…

2007

[EN] The determination of highly hydrophobic basic compounds by means of conventional reversed-phase liquid chromatographic methods has several drawbacks. Owing to the characteristics of micellar liquid chromatography (MLC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE), these techniques could be advantageous alternatives to reversed-phase chromatographic methods for the determination of these kinds of compounds. The objective of this study was to develop and compare MLC and CE methods for the determination of antipsychotic basic drugs (amitryptiline, haloperidol, perphenazine and thioridazine) in pharmaceutical preparations. The chromatographic determination of the analytes was performed on a Kromasil…

Multivariate optimization approach for chiral resolution of drugs using human serum albumin in affinity electrokinetic chromatography-partial filling…

2005

The enantiomeric resolution of chiral compounds using HSA by means of affinity EKC (AEKC)-partial filling technique is the result of a delicate balance between different experimental variables such as protein concentration, running pH (background electrophoretic buffer, protein and compound solutions) and protein solution plug length. In this paper multivariate optimization approaches for chiral separation of four basic drugs (alprenolol, oxprenolol, promethazine and propranolol) using HSA as chiral selector in AEKC-partial filling technique are studied. The experimental conditions to achieve maximum resolution are optimized using the Box-Behnken experimental design. Partial least squares a…

Strategies for the enantiomeric determination of amphetamine and related compounds by liquid chromatography.

2002

This paper summarizes recent research on the stereospecific analysis of amphetamine, its analogs and metabolites, by liquid chromatography. The different methods proposed have been evaluated and compared in terms of resolution power, time of analysis, sensitivity, or potential for automation. Chiral derivatization, followed by separation of the diastereomers formed in achiral chromatographic systems, is still the method preferred for the analysis of amphetamines at trace levels, as derivatization also improves analyte detectability. This is the method of choice for the enantiomeric analysis of amphetamines at the low concentrations typically encountered in biological samples. In recent year…

Curve resolution procedure for isolating the spectra of unknown interferences from the sample spectrum in analyte determinations

1998

The method described is based on the selection of a wavelength in the sample spectrum that is called ‘reference wavelength’, all measured wavelengths are previously assayed in order to select this reference wavelength. Several wavelengths can be used as the reference. The interferent spectrum is calculated as a function of the interferent absorbance at this wavelength, making use of the ratio between the absorbance of the analyte at the selected wavelength and at every measured wavelength. The proposed methodology can estimate the unknown interferent spectrum from the sample and pure analyte spectra. As a quality guarantee of the estimated spectrum, its shape is also estimated in spiked sam…

Stimulated Raman and Cars Spectroscopy of ν1 and 2ν2 (A1) Bands of 12CF4

1994

Two experimental coherent Raman techniques, stimulated Raman and coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS), were employed to study the Raman spectrum of CF 4 in the 900 cm −1 region. The stimulated Raman and CARS spectra of the ν 1 band of CF 4 were recorded at high resolution. The analysis of these spectra enabled some spectroscopic constants of this band to be refined and higher order constants to be determined for the first time. The first high-resolution CARS spectrum of the 2ν 2 (A 1 ) harmonic band is also presented. The rotational transitions of this band up to J = 40 were assigned and the first set of spectroscopic constants for this sub-level were determined. These results imp…

Structure and properties of GaNxOy films grown by nitridation of GaAs (100) substrates

2004

GaAs (100) substrates have been heat-treated in a metal-organic chemical vapor deposition reactor under flows of NH 3 and an oxygen organo-metallic precursor at temperatures between 650°C and 750°C. Yellowish films formed at the surface of all the samples. Gallium, nitrogen and oxygen were detected by EDX analysis of the films. The oxygen content was estimated in the range of at 5-10 at% depending on the heat-treatment temperature. X-ray diffraction and HRTEM results indicate that the structure of the films corresponds to the hexagonal wurtzite phase of GaN with an expanded unit cell. Raman spectra show hands corresponding to the Raman active GaN modes as well as disorder-activated broad ba…

The influence of the anatase nanoparticles boundaries on the titania activity performance

2014

Metal oxides structures, formed by ordered self-assembling of crystalline nanoparticles aggregates, are attracting growing attention in fields such as catalysis or solar cells. The properties of these structures are influenced not only by their morphology and nanoparticles composition but also by the assembled particles boundaries. In order to determine the influence of these boundaries on the structures properties, the present investigation has been devoted to study the characteristics of anatase nanoparticles boundaries in titania aggregates prepared by TiCl4 hydrolysis at low temperature. Proton magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance and high resolution transmission electron mic…

Mesocrystalline Cr and Sb-codoped anatase visible-light-driven photocatalyst

2018

Abstract We report on the synthesis, characterization and visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity of mesocrystalline Cr- and Sb-codoped anatase nanoparticles. Discrete and morphologically well-defined assemblies of anatase nanoparticles sized below 100 nm × 50 nm were prepared by hydrothermal aging of aqueous solutions containing titanium alkoxide, chromium acetylacetonate, antimony acetate and triethanolamine (TEOA) as stabilizer. The as-prepared and TEOA-free doped nanoparticles showed similar crystallographic parameters and spectroscopic features. The incorporation of Cr and Sb dopant cations into the anatase nanoparticles was evaluated by Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction pa…
