Enhancing social and health care educators’ competence in digital pedagogy: A pilot study of educational intervention
2021
The purpose of this pilot study was to explore connection of an educational intervention on the competence of health care educators and educator candidates (n=11) in digital pedagogy as a part of national TerOpe project. An educational intervention, Basics of Digital Pedagogy was developed by the TerOpe project’s experts. The participating educators and educator candidates of the educational intervention were recruited from the universities and university of applied sciences, which were involved in TerOpe project. All the participants of the educational interventions were invited to take part in this study. The educational intervention was conducted during spring 2019. Pre- and post-tests w…
The use of shallow dripwater as an isotopic marker of seepage in karst areas: A comparison between Western Sicily (Italy) and the Harz Mountains (Ger…
2013
Abstract The isotopic signature of slow-flowing dripwater collected in caves located in Western Sicily (Italy) was determined for evaluating its possible use as an isotopic tracer of the local groundwater recharge. These spot measures were compared with a longer series of local rain and spring compositions and with other samples taken, under different hydrogeological conditions, in caves of the Harz Mountains (Northern Germany). The slow flowing dripwater from Sicily showed δ 18 O/δD ratios similar to those of local rain and groundwater, demonstrating that these three are all parent waters. A parallel similarity was found in the vertical isotopic gradient (Δδ 18 O) of the three groups of wa…
Variation in egg size and offspring phenotype among and within seven Arctic charr morphs.
2022
Maternal effects have the potential to alter early developmental processes of offspring and contribute to adaptive diversification. Egg size is a major contributor to offspring phenotype, which can influence developmental trajectories and potential resource use. However, to what extent intraspecific variation in egg size facilitates evolution of resource polymorphism is poorly understood. We studied multiple resource morphs of Icelandic Arctic charr, ranging from an anadromous morph—with a phenotype similar to the proposed ancestral phenotype—to sympatric morphs that vary in their degree of phenotypic divergence from the ancestral anadromous morph. We characterized variation in egg size and…
Informācijas avotu kvalitātes novērtēšanas kritēriji studiju procesā
2018
Emotional Dissonance in workplaces: differences between jobs and perceived well-being
2019
Purpose. According with a recent EU-OSHA research, among the sources of major stress on workplaces there is some connected to emotional regulation, such as "having to deal with difficult customers, patients, pupils, etc. (58%). Hochschild (1983) called emotional labour the process by which employees manage their emotions to meet organizationally mandated emotional display rules or norms concerning. When an employee must express an emotion he or she does not feel, is lead to emotional dissonance, that affect well-being (Sheldon et al., 1997). The aim of this work is to explore how the emotional dissonance affect the personal well-being in a sample of italian workers differentiated by sector,…
A systematic literature review on employee relations with CSR : State of art and future research agenda
2022
Within recent years, the literature on employee–CSR relations has grown significantly. However, the research is fragmented throughout various journals and disciplines, and we still lack a comprehensive literature review on the topic to show what we currently know about the employee relationship with CSR, and what we do not know. In this study, we conduct a systematic literature review on employee relations with CSR, based 331 journal articles. We analyze their methodological and theoretical approaches. Based on their key findings, we build a categorization of dominant research findings and their connections. Building on our review, we show how the research has been dominated by a focus on t…
Linking employer branding orientation and firm performance: Testing a dual mediation route of recruitment efficiency and positive affective climate
2019
Faced with competitive labor markets, firms increasingly use employer branding to build a qualified workforce and engage their employees. However, our understanding of the impact of employer branding orientation on firm performance and the theoretical firm‐level mechanisms underlying this potential impact is very limited. To address this gap, we integrate brand marketing theory with human resource management (HRM) research to develop a model explicating how employer branding orientation is linked to firm performance through a dual route by enhancing both recruitment efficiency (i.e., external route: applicants) and positive affective climate (i.e., internal route: incumbent employees). The …
Toward Comprehensive Plant Microbiome Research
2020
Microbes have driven eco-evolutionary adaptations organizing biodiversity from the origin of life. They are ubiquitous and abundant, facilitating the biochemical processes that make Earth habitable and shape ecosystem structures, functions, and services. Recent studies reveal that commensalistic and beneficial microbes associated with wild and domesticated plants may aid in establishing sustainable agriculture for a changing climate. However, developing microbe-based biotechnologies and ecosystem services requires a thorough understanding of the diversity and complexity of microbial interactions with each other and with higher organisms. We discuss the hot and blind spots in contemporary re…
Employee commitment to energy management : a qualitative interview study about employee commitment to energy management in industrial companies and p…
2015
Energy management is increasingly important to organisations that consume significant amounts of energy mainly due to the needs to comply with changing legislation and for saving financial resources. Even though energy management has received academic attention, it has not been studied in the perspective of employee commitment. Employee commitment may create various benefits to an organisation and its employees. Hence, this study aims at creating a better understanding of why employees commit to energy management and how it may be enhanced. This qualitative study was conducted using theme interviews as a data collection method. 14 employees, working among energy management, in eleven organi…
Resource Allocation and Computation Offloading for Multi-Access Edge Computing With Fronthaul and Backhaul Constraints
2021
Edge computing is able to provide proximity solutions for the future wireless network to accommodate different types of devices with various computing service demands. Meanwhile, in order to provide ubiquitous connectivities to massive devices over a relatively large area, densely deploying remote radio head (RRH) is considered as a cost-efficient solution. In this work, we consider a vertical and heterogeneous multi-access edge computing system. In the system, the RRHs are deployed for providing wireless access for the users and the edge node with computing capability can process the computation requests from the users. With the objective to minimize the total energy consumption for proces…
