Buckling and post-buckling analysis of cracked composite plates via a single-domain Ritz approach
2018
Thin and moderately thick composite multi-layered plates are widely employed in many engineering applications, especially in naval and aerospace structures. These structural components can experience in service the presence of cracks, generated for example by corrosion, fatigue or accidental external causes. Cracks can affect the load carrying capability, buckling and post-buckling behaviour of plates; therefore, their effects need to be investigated and taken into account for fail safe or damage tolerant design. Additionally, attention should be devoted to the interaction of cracks with buckling and post-buckling behaviour, as the energy release rate in post-buckling regimes can be adverse…

Full-scale validation of bio-recycled asphalt mixtures for road pavements
2019
Abstract Recycling of asphalt has become a well-established practice in many countries, however the road pavement industry remains a bulk consumer of extracted raw materials. Novel solutions that find root in circular economy concepts and life-cycle approaches are needed in order to enable optimisation of infrastructure resource efficiency, starting from the design stage and spanning the whole value chain in the construction sector. Itis within this framework that the present study presents a full-scale validation of asphalt mixtures specifically designed to ensure durability of flexible road pavements and at the same time enabling the reuse of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) through the i…
Cobalt Electrolyte/Dye Interactions in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: A Combined Computational and Experimental Study
2012
We report a combined experimental and computational investigation to understand the nature of the interactions between cobalt redox mediators and TiO2 surfaces sensitized by :ruthenium and organic dyes, and their impact on. the performance of the corresponding dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We : focus: on different ruthenium dyes and fully organic dyes, to understand the dramatic loss of efficiency observed for the prototype Ru(II) N719 dye in conjunction with :Cobalt: electrolytes. Both N719- and Z907-based DSSCs showed an increased lifetime in iodine-based electrolyte compared to the cobalt-based redox-shuttle; While the organic D21L6 and D25L6 cycles endowed. With long alkoxy chains,…

Abstract PO-46: Mechanisms of resistance to the PI3K inhibitor copanlisib in marginal zone lymphoma
2020
Abstract Background: PI3Kδ is expressed in B cells and has a central role in the B-cell receptor signaling. Copanlisib is a highly selective PI3Kδ and PI3Kα inhibitor, and it is currently under clinical development in indolent lymphomas including marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). Copanlisib is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma. Nevertheless, a subset of patients can eventually relapse due to acquired resistance. A better understanding of resistance mechanisms could help to design improved therapies; hence, we generated MZL cell lines resistant to copanlisib. Materials and Methods: Cells were kept on copanlis…
Red and blue luminescent metallo-supramolecular coordination polymers assembled through π–π interactions †
2000
The use of π-stacking interactions to control the aggregation of photo-active metal centres is explored through the design of bis(2,2′;6′,2′′-terpyridyl) metal complexes functionalised with biphenyl ‘tails’. Aryl–aryl interactions control the aggregation of the metal complexes into polymetallic arrays in the solid state. Cobalt(II), ruthenium(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) bis-ligand complexes and a mixed ligand ruthenium(II) complex have been structurally characterised. The solid-state structures are dependent on which units dominate the π-stacking. For cobalt, ruthenium, nickel and copper, biphenylene–biphenylene interactions lead to linear rod-like arrays, while fo…
Contribution to the flora of Asian and European countries: new national and regional vascular plant records, 2
2014
The paper presents new records for 20 vascular plant species from eight Asian and two European countries. Five taxa (Artemisia campestris, Artemisia tanacetifolia, Delphinium sajanense, Diarthron vasiculosum var. undulatum, Epilobium adenocaulon) are reported from Kazakhstan, four (Deyeuxia yanyuanensis, Poa arnoldii, Stipa gracilis, Stipa macroglossa subsp. kazachstanica) from China, three (Nepeta pamirensis, Silene bucharica, Scrophularia pamiro-alaica) from Uzbekistan, two (Epilobium nervosum, Stellaria zolotukhinii) from Mongolia, two (Oenothera deflexa, Scirpus georgianus) from Poland, one (Coronopus didymus) from Tajikistan, one (Orobanche rumseiana) from Italy, one (Stipa macroglossa…
Application of integrative cloud point extraction and concentration for the analysis of polyphenols and alkaloids in mulberry leaves
2018
Abstract A simple and efficient method based on cloud point extraction and concentration combined with high performance liquid chromatography was developed for the simultaneous separation and determination of five target compounds (deoxynojirimycin, chlorogenic acid, rutin, isoquercitrin and astragalin) in mulberry leaves samples. Firstly, to obtain a high extraction rate, the ultrasound assisted extraction was developed on acid modified Triton X-114 system. Under the optimal conditions, the total maximum extraction yields of five target compounds reached 20.80 mg/g, which was superior to conventional solvent extraction. After the cloud point extraction and concentration, the HPLC analysis …
